Story
Ein König hat einen großen Wald mit vielen wilden Tieren darin. Er schickt einen Jäger aus, um dort ein Reh zu schießen, aber der Jäger kommt nicht zurück. Ein Königssohn wird von einer alten Hexe verwunschen, im Wald in einem Eisenofen zu sitzen. Nach vielen Jahren kommt eine Königstochter vorbei, die sich verirrt hat. Er schickt ihr jemanden mit, der sie schweigend nach Hause führt. Dafür soll sie mit einem Messer wiederkommen, ihn befreien und heiraten. Stattdessen schicken sie und ihr Vater die schöne Müllerstochter, dann die noch schönere Schweinehirtentochter hin. Beide schaben 24 Stunden erfolglos und verraten sich dann. Unter Drohung muss die Prinzessin doch selbst kommen und ihn befreien.

Während sie im Keller einen Krug Bier zapft, stiehlt ein Hund ihr die Wurst aus der Pfanne. Während sie dem Hund nachläuft, läuft das Fass aus. Sie überlegt, was sie tun könne, damit der Frieder nichts merkt. Da kommt ihr die Idee, das Bier mit Mehl zu trocknen. Dabei fällt auch noch der Krug um und Frieder bekommt weder zu Essen noch zu Trinken. Er ist verärgert und schimpft, dass sie das Mehl nicht hätte zum Trocknen des Bieres nehmen solle.

Unterwegs verliert er ein Korn, aus dem ein Baum in den Himmel wächst. Er klettert hoch und sieht die Engel Stroh dreschen. Da wackelt der Baum, jemand will ihn umhauen. Der Bauer macht ein Seil aus der Spreu vom Dreschen und lässt sich mit einer Hacke und einem Dreschflegel herunter. Er kommt in ein Loch, macht mit der Hacke eine Treppe und hat den Dreschflegel als Beweis.
