About this listen

"While the history books are filled with tales of obsessive visionary geniuses who remade the world in their images with sheer, almost irrational force, I've found that history is also made by individuals who fought their egos at every turn, who eschewed the spotlight, and who put their higher goals above their desire for recognition." Easy on the ears, hard on the head

It's a short and tasteful listen.
Ryan's clear pronunciation and calm demeanor make this a very relaxing audiobook. Ryan has the ability to painstakingly break down very complex ideas to the point where I can understand them. With that being said, Ryan's book will certainly cause me to reevaluate many of the actions I have taken in the past while simultaneously making me take a second look at the actions I take moving forward.
This is not a self help book, as Ryan states in the start of the book, but the values and morals behind this audiobook certainly lends ideas that can be directly applied to your everyday life, similar to a self help book.
Thank you Ryan for such a great experience.

Universally solid advice

Excellent audio book that's easy to listen to. I rarely am compelled to write a review, but this audio book motivated me to do so. I would recommend it to anyone.

Feet on the ground. My Perspective was enhanced.

What a great read for a life learner like me. To sit back and view the dangers of success for example and learn from so many historically. Ryan’s reading has enabled him to draw from a ton of life’s lessons involving great leaders in history. Great flow. I like how chill the pace is.

Must read for anyone looking to grow

What made the experience of listening to Ego Is the Enemy the most enjoyable?

The topic itself and how Ryan breaks it down. Ryan nailed it with this book. The examples and stories are perfect.

What other book might you compare Ego Is the Enemy to and why?

The predecessor of this book, The Obstacle Is The Way is also a must read. To go through trials and tribulations is part of learning and succeeding and in order to get past it all requires taming your ego.

What about Ryan Holiday’s performance did you like?

He lives and breaths it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book helped fortify similar beliefs and mindsets I previously had and encouraged me to continue down the path I am currently on.

Any additional comments?

I'm buying this book to give to others.

Just what I needed

As always with Mr. Holiday - highly digestible, entertaining and concise. Will probably end up listening AT LEAST 1 more time when I feel my own ego getting out of control.

Good message

This book was very monotone, dry, and hard to focus on. It had a very deep insightful message. I’d recommend buying the physical book. Otherwise had a great inspiration. Definitely requires more than one listen to take it all in!

Life changing work by Ryan Holiday

This book is full of so many well researched and carefully cultivated examples of ego creating havoc and tragedy in lives, organizations and even on a national and global scale. Also many great anecdotes that illustrate how ego controlled can result in repeated success and fulfillment. A really wise and inspiring perspective on living.
