About this listen

When Redwall was published in 1987 it catapulted author Brian Jacques to international stardom. And small wonder! This enthralling tale is jam-packed with the things we long for in a great adventure: danger, laughter, hairbreadth escapes, tragedy, mystery, a touch of wonder, a truly despicable villain, and a hero we can take to heart.

That hero is Matthias, a young mouse who must rise above his fears and failures to save his friends at Redwall Abbey. The villain is Cluny the Scourge, one of the most deliciously despicable rats of all time. The unforgettable cast of supporting characters includes the stalwart badger Constance, an irrepressible hare named Basil Stag Hare, and the elderly wisemouse Brother Methuselah.

But most of all there is Matthias, seeking his true destiny in a journey that will lead through danger and despair to true wisdom.

Exciting entertaining! Great for my eight-year-old

This book was a tough one. It was very outgoing and older child friendly. My eight-year-old enjoyed it very much. He told me about it all the time and now he has the whole series of books as well. Though I will say that this book has some mild language and it may not be so good for any child under six years or any child that has lots of fears. There are lots of funny characters and intense parts which make the book both entertaining and exciting. Those are some tragic moments so I recommend parents preview this audiobook before letting their children listen to it. But it's an excellent book for most everyone and I think that this book was great. Yours sincerely (very sincerely) pig widget.

Redwall

I had fun listening to this as an adult. I enjoyed Mathias’s journey as a kid, however I had forgotten how violent this is. Don’t get me wrong! It’s a great story, it’s what you’d call a YA Novel. Not a little kid’s book.

Great as when I read it as a child

honestly didn't love the voices they chose for Mathias and Clooney, but the actors still did well as how they chose to portray the characters.
Just as a director, I would have taken the characters in another direction.
that's the advantage still of reading in your head. the voices can sound exactly as your imagination sees fit.
but still great job to the voice actors.

A children's classic

Brain Jacques has given the world one of the best written and engaging tales of love, compassion and team work. The woodland creatures present an amazing set of morals within stories that can hold anyone's attention start to finish. The full production cast can throw you for a loop if you are used to a single reader but by the end of the story you will be well used to in and appreciate the entire production immensely! I am an avid reader and listener too many kinds of fiction on a daily basis and it all stems from reading these books as child with my parents. Every family should introduce these stories to their children as early as possible.

Redwall Sings

This is a great YA novel with the mice and other creatures of Redwall featured as the primary stars. It is truly a world until it's own, one that is filled with bravery in the face of evil. I cannot recommend it enough.
