I'm glad I didn't listen to the naysayers!

Any additional comments?

After reading several negative reviews about Ray Chase's narration style, I almost skipped on this one. I know what it's like to have an audiobook experience ruined by a grating narration style, so I went in fully prepared to take advantage of Audible's awesome return policy. Ten minutes in, and I was hooked. The narrator's style, while different, was purposeful, and worked very well for a book with so many characters and such a sweeping story arc. I thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook (which was actually comprised of three different stories and a prequel). Very well written, great character development, and a story line that caught me completely off guard on more than one occasion! There might have been a chapter or two that a more aggressive editor would have red flagged (where the story seemed to bog down a bit), but to be fair, at least 40 of the more than 42 hours was an absolutely engaging read/listen.

Nice long omnibus with some character recurrence..

As can be true with any story, there are parts that are a little slow. That being said, at no point in the series do I feel like the author falls into a predictable pattern and the characters all have a uniqueness to them that allows you to both like and at times dislike them. Narrator is very consistent with character voices, which is another thing I appreciate.

Long Book but worth the listen.

If you could sum up The Breakers Omnibus in three words, what would they be?

Interesting twist on survival after a viral pandemic AND an alien invasion. Never expected the two to meld together, but they did.

What did you like best about this story?

The character development. I particularly liked Rena.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were many moments but the best for me was Rena's victory over Carslaw.

Great story despite some characters

overall the story is pretty interesting but has some pacing issues as some characters just seem to spin in irrelevant circles. I mainly kept reading for the character Walt as both stories in the first book were great, but the characters of the second book were unlikable and made me struggle to finish the series.

Well worth it

Any additional comments?

I wasn't sure about this book at first, but I'm glad I listened to it. It is well worth the credit. I plan on getting the other books in this series as well.

I want to keep reading...

I think it is a reflection of the book if you want to keep going. And I really want to keep reading. (even though we both know I will be listening )

Good story, depressing narrator

The story is pretty good overall, but the narrator seems to be super be pressed through the entire book and read at a very annoying rhythm. I almost didn't listen to the whole series because the narration was so annoying. But the story is rather captivating by itself so I stuck with it. There are a lot of things that make the books annoying, no description of the characters but description of all the stupid little things they do, but without hearing what the person even looks like (even generally) makes it irritating. Good story though
