It's interesting, but nowhere near the style or quality ofLarry Correia's books. I would have been surprised he'd put his name on them, if he hadn't already done the same for other vaguely related tales.

More Monster Hunter goodness

This was a great addition to the Monster Hunter series 5)2 cryptozoologist in me loved learned about European monster lore. I don’t know what other reviews were talking about when they said there was no action. It has plenty, maybe not as much as the main line books but it’s expressed multiple times that Europe handles situations more subtly than the US.

If you liked the main line books you’ll enjoy this one as a well. Plus Stephen Thorne is always a treat to listen to.

4 out of 5

Not sure if it was a cultural difference or some of the writers missed the mark, but Larry created a fantastic world and I'm here for it.

It's what I expected

I liked this book. Compared to some of the negative reviews, this is what I expected. It's an anthology of 11 short stories, originally written in Czech, by Czech authors, set in the Czech Republic, of hunters fighting Czech monsters. The translation is overall very good. There are some phrases here and there that could use better editing in English. I don't speak Czech and you don't need to either to enjoy the book. I didn't have problems following any of the names, places, or euphemisms. If you expected to see the MHI crowd run around Alabama, this isn't it. If you want to hear some fun short stories of characters you don't know fight some Slavic monsters in towns set in Eastern Europe written by authors you likely haven't read before then I recommend listening to this book. The stories are all different, some are better than others, but overall I enjoyed it.

It was ok

Some stories were good and some put me to sleep
I'm a bit disappointed but I guess coming off the the Monster Hunter series my expectations were super high.

This is far from the MHI books that you are used to.

The book is very slow and to many different stories that go no where. Please stop letting other people write on your platform unless it's John Ringeo so far every time it's been a major let down.

I want to like it....

I am a huge MHI fan, and Larry Corriea story was fine. I guess it's the cultural difference? I can't put my finger on it, but the stories were foreign and unsatisfying. Sorry, but truth is what it is...

Dear Larry

I don't think that Larry was talking about this book when he was describing a book about the Fantom group in the forward. The writers seem to have no idea how to write about this genre or something... I don't know. I have never read a book that was translated into broken English. It is only by sheer determination that I can say I finished. I bet that the Czech version of this in print is better.

Stories ok but they Narrators performance ruins it.

I couldn’t make it all the way through the stories interesting and new but the narrators monotone and emotionless read ruined it. You couldn’t even tell when he transitioned from reading the story of how this was created to the actual story. Then after Larry’s story which seems rushed through passes the characters were read without distinction so you couldn’t tell who was who.

If you need to sleep then listen to this book

The narrator will put you to sleep. I couldn’t finish this book and it pisses me off because I absolutely love this series. Larry dropped the ball on this one. The reason I stopped listening to it is because the narrator sounds the same regardless of the character. I couldn’t keep up with who was who. It literally bored me to death. Writing this review just pains my heart but you need to know. Save your money and time and buy something else.
