Publisher's summary

Workaholic Detective Aiden Carlisle isn't looking for love - and certainly not at the law-enforcement seminar she reluctantly agreed to attend. But the first lecturer is not at all what she expected.

Psychologist Dawn Kinsley has just found her place in life. After a failed relationship with a police officer, she has sworn never to get involved with another cop again, but she feels a connection to Aiden from the very first moment.

Can Aiden keep herself from crossing the line when a brutal crime threatens to keep them apart before they've even gotten together?

Contains mature themes.

Beautiful

Such a hard and sensitive topic that Jae managed to write so beautifully.
Abby Craden can read me the phone book and I’d listen to it on repeat. Such a great job as always Ms. Craden never disappoints.
The tact and knowledge that was put into this story was remarkable. It is not often that I like every character in a story but in this one I did (aside from the bad guy). This story made me believe love really can conquer anything. Building a relationship is hard, but add to that a traumatic situation and it becomes that much harder. The way both main character, Aiden and Dawn fought for the live they wanted was inspiring. Well done Jae!

Whew that was intense

As always, the writing by Jae and the narration by Abby are phenomenal. This book was intense. I don’t typically feel extremely uncomfortable when reading, but I found the court scene so hard and gut wrenching to get through. I actually had to stop and walk away for a bit because it impacted me so much.

Kudos again to both the writer and narrator. I am looking forward to the sequel; however, I need to take a break and read something with rainbows and puppies beforehand.

I learn something

this book really open my eyes to the rippling affect that being assaulted has in an individual and love one's
I love that you mase the two main characters strong yet vulnerable. also that you make Aiden patient and understanding. Even though there wasn't many sex scene it was befitting given the circumstances. I love this and definitely recommend

What can go wrong?

When Jae writes and Abby Craden narrates there is always a success. And this book is no different.
I loved Aiden, she is a strong balanced woman, both in her profession and her love. She reminded me of “Olivia Benson” from SUV. The story was well developed and I liked the court scenes, these scenes Iar missed in SUV.
So thank you Jae for actually detailing that.

My favorite book from Jae

Wow! A roller coaster of emotions. I love books that make me feel, and this book touches every emotion. This story was well written and felt real to me. The conflicts didn’t feel made up but very real. The ride it takes you on is wonderful. Loved it!!

So amazing

This story deals with such a sensitive topic and Jae approached it with such care and consideration. You can feel the emotions of the characters throughout the story. The way the story was handled was so beautiful.

And obviously the narration by the legendary Abby Craden was absolutely superb. Loved the voices for the characters.

Triumph Over Evil

Evil came thru Dawn’s window and stole her independence and her sense of freedom to live and love. Aidan, a product of evil violence, that spends her life trying to rectify wrongs done to her mother by trying to help and rescue others in her mother’s predicament. Two wounded hearts and souls need each other to survive and heal. In the end finding a way to triumph over the evil that torpedoed their lives. Wonderfully written, because you felt every emotion..fear, anger, helplessness, sympathy, empathy, rage, and most definitely love. Awesome job.
