Story
Helen Vaughan doesn't know why she and her mother left their ancestral home at Harrowstone Hall, called Harrow, or why they haven't spoken to their extended family since. So when her grandfather dies, she's shocked to learn that he has left everything—the house, the grounds, and the money—to her. The inheritance comes with one condition: She must stay on the grounds of Harrow for one full year, or she'll be left with nothing. There is more at stake than money. For as long as she can remember, Harrow has haunted Helen's dreams.

Story
Sophia's earliest memory is of drowning. She remembers the darkness of the water and the briny taste as it filled her throat, the sensation of going under. She remembers hands pulling her back to safety. But she doesn't remember who saved her that day. The day her mother died - or so she has always believed. A mysterious call suggesting that her mother might still be alive has lured Sophia to the island of Bitter Rock, hunting for answers as elusive as her own past. But the more Sophia uncovers, the clearer it is that her mother's disappearance is just one of many.

Except for the occasional catnap or small blackout where she loses track of time, she hasn’t slept in a year. Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred. It’s now 1983, and home-health aide Kit McDeere arrives at a decaying Hope’s End to care for Lenora after her previous nurse fled in the middle of the night.

Story
For some people, Alaska is full of light and beauty. For Haley, it is a dangerous world of dark and tortured memories. She's here to document wildlife activist Kipp Nowak's bear encounters. But her real reason is to unearth the truth about a past murder. The suspense mounts when another body turns up, and Haley begins to wonder if the tragedies she experienced in the past are connected to the dangers and mysterious incidents of the present. Alaska Twilight is the story of a young woman's emergence from the shadows of past sorrow into the light of forgiveness and grace.

Story
There came an elastic aftershock of creaks and groans and then, softly softly, a chinking shower of rubbled cement. Leaves calmed and trunks stood serene. Where, not a minute before, there had been a suburb, there was now only woodland standing amid ruins. There is no warning. No chance to prepare. They arrive in the night: thundering up through the ground, transforming streets and towns into shadowy forest. Buildings are destroyed.

The living dead are more alive than ever! Zombies have become more than an iconic monster for the 21st century: They are now a phenomenon constantly revealing as much about ourselves - and our fascination with death, resurrection, and survival - as our love for the supernatural or post-apocalyptic speculation. Our most imaginative literary minds have been devoured by these incredible creatures and produced exciting, insightful, and unflinching new works of zombie fiction.

I’m in shock. This is impossible. Because earlier this evening when the Smiths left for their fancy charity gala—Lara in high heels and a floor-length gown, Corbin in a tux—they never mentioned a baby. Very much enjoyed it!
Interesting story, very well written and narrated. A pleasant surprise, The fact that the main character is a young teenager, and the narrator also sounds appropriately young, did not take away from the story at all. It is just as good a story for adults, as it is for a younger audience.

Character says it best herself..
Chapter 34: "There ought to be more drama." -Jess
Its not that the story was bad by any means - you can see from my ratings that I enjoyed the story and narration. There were times that the narrator came off as a little over the top and her way of speaking reminded me vaguely of Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory but she was overall a pleasant narrator to listen to. The author definitely did not let the main character achieve all her goals easily but I do feel like the plot of the story could have allowed for Jess to be put through so much more and to be able to really show her growth better through the story.

Good listen
I buy a lot of books for my middle school students in my resource room. This is an enjoyable listen and I think they will like it. I thought the narrator was a little over the top and annoying when she was reading the girl's part when she wad upset ; it seemed a little too much and I would fast forward some of those parts. All in all it was good.

Great Story of Survival
I loved the storyline and that it flipped easily from the young protagonist sharing recent past events and he present physical, mental, and emotional conditions that are at play in whether she lives or dies. I also like that there is no cover up of extremely hard conditions and/or white washing the consequences of her decisions, right or wrong. Very good. I highly recommend it.

Very disappointing when it ends!
Overall this was excellent and compelling. my only complaint would be that the wrap up seemed to be a little rushed and the choices she makes don't make sense at all given the situation she was currently and has been in over the course of the book. once the end game began, "smart" went out the window and she kept going with the "strong" option.

Wow Raw & Intense
There are so many moments to just pause and take in the enormity of what Jess is enduring and compare it to our own lives. Unrelenting grief, fear of so many things new ones everyday, the symbolism of not being good enough or being proud but having no one to share it with. By the time it was about Jess and Bo, I was halfway thru a box of tissues. Such a great novel. You don’t want to miss the chance to appreciate the beauty of this writers incredible words.
What a gift having Amy McFadden narrate. She added to the emotional intensity and brought to life the story in living color!!
