Publisher's summary

True love is put to the test in this romantic comedy brought to hilarious life by Santino Fontana (Frozen, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Stephanie Einstein, and a full cast!

This Psych 312 assignment just might send me off the deep end. Determining whether love at first sight really exists with Robbie Moravian as my project partner, of all people?

He’s the sappiest man alive, so upbeat I could scream, and clearly rooting for happy endings at every turn. How does he not learn from experience considering our own meet-cute last semester almost got us expelled?

But we both need to pass this course to graduate. So we’re interviewing five random couples about their meet-cutes and relationships and spending all this time together. Which is certainly...educational.

Because it turns out Robbie isn’t just the charming golden boy I thought I knew. There’s some actual depth beneath all those lame dad jokes and the ‘70s-inspired thrift wardrobe (even if he does look ridiculously great in a flared collar). Next thing I know he’s walking me back to my office on the regular and finishing all my sentences and protecting me from freak storms, and...

Wait. Could Robbie be right? Can happy endings really come from unhappy beginnings? Is he about to change my entire world view?

Group projects are the worst.

About the Creator

Cara Bastone is a full-time writer living and writing in Brooklyn with her husband, two sons, and an almost-goldendoodle. Her goal with her work is to find the swoon in ordinary love stories. She’s been a fan of the romance genre since she found a grocery bag filled with her grandmother’s old Harlequin romances when she was in high school. She’s a fangirl for pretzel sticks, long walks through Prospect Park, and love stories featuring men who aren’t hobbled by their own masculinity.

About the Performer

Santino Fontana has cemented himself as one of Broadway’s most versatile leading men as well as a formidable screen talent. In 2019 Fontana won the Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Actor in a Musical for his dual-role performance in Tootsie. He is one of the few performers to have received the Obie, Lortel, Clarence Derwent, Outer Critics Circle, two Drama Desks, and the Tony in a mix of straight plays and musicals.
On film he is known for voicing the villainous Prince Hans in Disney’s Academy Award-winning animated feature Frozen. He was also seen in Universal Studios’ Sisters opposite Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. His independent film work includes the romantic comedy Off the Menu, the psychological thriller Impossible Monsters, and the comedy Papercop, for which he won a Best Actor Award at the Williamsburg International Independent Film Festival. He will be seen in the upcoming films Stalking the Bogeyman, Brenda & Billy and the Pothos Plant, and Lost & Found in Cleveland. On television, Fontana has been seen on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Shades of Blue, Fosse/Verdon, The Good Wife, Nurse Jackie, Brain Dead, Mozart in the Jungle, and Royal Pains. He can also be seen in the popular web series Submissions Only. He is also a celebrated audiobook narrator with numerous credits, receiving the Audie award for Stephen King’s The Institute.

What an adorable and wholesome little story. Nothing raunchy here folks. Couldn’t stop listening and smiled all the way through. Delightful to have something so cute be included for free!

Another favorite

When this popped up in my recommended I stopped listening to my other book to start it.
I love the way Cara writes her stories and she always fines talented voice actors to bring her characters to life.
If you’re looking for an entertaining romcom that will make you laugh, cheer, think about love at first sight and feel like a warm hug on a cold day, you’ll love this book.

Adorable

Such a cute story. Listened to it on a round trip to Atlanta and the timing was perfect. The story kept me entertained the entire way. Im in love with the awkwardness sweetness of Marigold and Robbie.

Another Cara Bastone Classic!

I've loved everything from Cara Bastone since Call Me Maybe. This is no exception. The full cast, especially the performances from the main characters was exceptional. I have to be honest, the first scene almost lost me, but it picked up very quickly. The first scene is an interview with an older couple and it started to drone-on a bit. I think I just didn't understand where it was going. I found myself worrying if this was going to be a flop. But the interview actually ended-up being really important to the overall story, and the rest of the book was very fast-paced.
Robbie is just too pure for this world! He is such a lovely character that brought me so much joy. Unfortunately, Marigold, not so much. She pretty much frustrated me right up until the end. Sure, she had some nice moments of thoughtfulness with the baked goods and such, but mostly she was just mean to Robbie despite him being a genuinely kind person to her throughout the entire story. I understand her having a little bit of angst, but it was relentless and really just made it hard to like her at all.

Rapid fire witty banter

Hours of rapid fire worry banter. It’s a bit much for me. It was an ok story.

Delightful and fun story!

If this genre is your type, definitely give this one a try. It's a quick book about how two older 20 somethings have to navigate working together to finish their class project for their psych class. They interview a handful of couples and realize many things about themselves and each other in the process of doing so. It is fun, flirty, spontaneous, and you can't help root for these two characters. The main characters' narrators were fantastic! They pretty much held my attention all the way through the book. With the addition of the other narrators, it really felt like I was sitting in during these interviews. Delightful audiobook!
