I really connected with this and spent the last 4 episodes crying (note, I’m also an attorney (closeted creative), mid-30s, dealing with complex grief, on my IC healing journey, etc)… so I could be biased, but I think it’s worth every minute. I’m so glad Susan Cain quit practicing law and started writing from her heart. To imagine not having her voice regarding issues like bittersweetness and grief- how lonely I think I’d feel. I will be restarting this tomorrow so I can pause and respond to more of the journal prompts throughout. I know there’s a lot to say and catharsis to be had if I’d just slow down enough to put my feelings to paper.

The first section was moving, as were they all, but I believe the discussion of the Rabbi’s loss of his son to Polio and his correspondence with Albert Einstein may have resonated the most with me. The notion that when we stop pursuing life based on our perception of separateness from the universe and accept or realize that we are one with the universe, a path to greater understanding of life, even during sorrow, is attainable.

I was touched.

Each of us will have different reaction to this compilation of a season of podcasts. Some of the sessions will resonate and some will not. And at times, I couldn’t tell how they related.
I do think I’m going to look up Susan’s TED Talks before checking out Bittersweet or Quiet. She’s intrigued me enough with her quiet spoken voice to dig deeper.

Thought provoking
