Publisher's summary
A Line in the Sand captures the essence of the Middle East with a richly detailed historical fiction of two lifelong friends - Magnus and Finn - thrown into a sleuthing adventure where mysteries of the Middle East and its people are gradually revealed. Following the trail of clues left by one TE Lawrence - Lawrence of Arabia - the Gentlemen ramble from Europe to the Levant to Arabia as their quest gains momentum, the situation on the ground unwinds, and history repeats itself.
Aided by a discarded artifact and two younger proteges- one Jew, one Arab- the Gentlemen experience a rich tapestry of the Middle East rarely experienced by westerners- locations, customs, food, languages, behaviors, historical perspective. As the treasure is revealed, the listener gains a greater understanding of the meaning of their adventure, and why it must be shared.

David Ignatius is known for his uncanny ability, in novel after novel, to predict the next great national security headline. In Phantom Orbit, he presents a story both searing and topical, with stakes as far-reaching as outer space. It follows Ivan Volkov, a Russian student in Beijing, who discovers an unsolved puzzle in the writings of the seventeenth-century astronomer Johannes Kepler. A Brilliant Adventure! Full Marks!
First off, I have to say that I fit the demographic of the audience for this book perfectly.
I'm an american, interested in world travel and exploration.
I'm a 55+ man
Lawrence of Arabia is one of my favorite films.
This book is EXTREMELY well-written. And the narration is possibly even better.
Time travel, the battle of Aqaba, and just learning about all the customs, it just doesn't get any better than this.
A great synthesis of education and entertainment.

Didn’t want to put this down!
After a raving review from a friend, I had to check this out for myself. Typically, historical fiction is not my genre, but I may have just been converted.
I was instantly drawn into the story, and further enamored by the friendship and adventures share by Finn and Magnus.
Eduardo’s voice narrating kept be wanting more!

I Loved This Book!!!
I have to start by saying that I thought this book was written in such an incredibly clever way. Not to mention how perfect of a fit the narrator was for this book. In the world of audio books, I truly feel that a narrator can most definitely elevate or deter from the feel of any given book. Hats off to the authors, because I don't think they could have picked a better person for the job!
I thought that the two main characters could have a spin-off book series. You can imagine them swooshing all around the world, seeking new adventures. One of my favorite parts is that there are so many great lessons to be taken from this fantastic book.
I would recommend it!
