Publisher's summary

Charles and his allies of the Commonwealth were facing their toughest challenge yet with the Northern Collective forcing them to bend the knee or face a terrible and costly war. But once again, Charles turned the financial tools at his disposal into a ruthless weapon and managed to defeat his enemies without even landing a single blow.

The time for the next step of his master plan has come—turning his nation into a Federation, with the cities of his allies as states of this new country. As he gets ready to call for an emergency meeting, another threat emerges. Dark, foreboding clouds are gathering in the skies, painting them red.

According to Alamander, these are signs of an apocalypse to come. A crisis that may very well spell the end for Liora and its Champions. Charles will need to investigate the matter and search for any possible way to stop that disaster.

His adventures will lead him to a strange island with magical goats, and culminate in a perilous trip into the Necropolis. Charles will look to turn each challenge into an opportunity, to consolidate his position en route to developing Liora's first true superpower, and bring him one step closer to winning the game of the gods.

Acceptable.

These short mediocre LitRPGs selling for a credit have convinced me that I need to write them.

Not the best but still good

Seemed a bit rushed towards the end, I felt like parts of the story could be fleshed out more but I’ll reserve judgement until the very end. Overall it was good, not the best in the series but unlike other series, this one does seem to progress the story mostly well.

Great Precursor to the End of the Series

Though this is my second time though, I’m still sad knowing it is winding down… That said, the ending of this book still has me on edge, ready to start the next book.

Still crushing it

I haven’t got Civ CEO fatigue yet and am still enjoying the books so far. On to book 8!

Liked it.

Liked the book and enjoyed the narrator. I HATE being forced to write a review.

Preferred prior installment

Not my favorite episode of the series, and I didn't appreciate the cliffhanger. It just was not as satisfactory to me as prior episodes. The narration is strong.

Confusion and disappointment

I can't tell if it was the presentation or the words as written but the explainer nature and list style of storytelling caused this particular story in the CivCEO series to be very underwhelming for me. The dryness caused me to push the listen speed beyond 2x, just so I could get through the rough parts.

The main character wasn't as likable as usual. The side characters weren't old favorites. Throughout the story Charles lashes out at the people around him which in his self reflective moments makes him wonder if he has a mind spell placed on him. That quandary isn't resolved by the end.

This particular book ends on a huge cliffhanger, or the story as a whole just ends in a completely unsatisfactory way, luckily we know that book 8 is already written. Hopefully all the questions thrust at us at the end of this one hopefully get resolved in book 8, if it come to Audible I'll get to find out.

Concur with other readers

This particular book was not much on development, but I guess once you have your nation running smoothly, and other competitors contained, you have to primarily focus on the MC. I am glad more books are coming. Hopefully it will enable more creative ways to enhance Sir Charles with him interacting with the gods.
