Publisher's summary

Vasily Zinoviev is the last man on earth you would want to say no to. Just ask the working girl who suffered a horrible death while skinny-dipping one night. Or the president of the prestigious Poinciana Club who's sorry he ever laid eyes on the ruthless Russian. Living in a $20 million oceanfront mansion with a harem of mistresses, Vasily and his brother are more than a handful for Palm Beach homicide detective Charlie Crawford. But throw in a vengeful ex-wife, a vicious hit man, a mysterious tycoon even more diabolical than the Russians, and you have Palm Beach Poison.

Keeps you on your toes

If you're looking for an entertaining mystery that keeps you guessing and is entertaining to the max, you've found your poison. My advice: go into this books as I did, knowing absolutely nothing about it for maximum enjoyment.

Narrator Phil Thron did a great job with pacing and I liked the resonance of his voice. He helped paint the images in my mind. Now of course, those picture were painted by virtue of the excellent writing by author Tom Turner.

I'm so glad I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by either the author, narrator or publisher in exchange for this honest review, but even if I hadn't been, I'd have happily paid for this book, and in fact I will go back and pay for Volume 1 now. Hoping for future works, as well. Enjoy this mystery treat and its surprises as you listen. Recommended.

Awesome read and almost awesome narration..

As good as Palm Beach Nasty was I can’t believe it took me since last May to read the second book, Palm Beach Poison, because I absolutely love Crawford and Ott.

This book was better than the first one. It just amazes me that these millionaire/billionaires in Palm Beach think they can commit murder, in this case it was seven murders, in order to get what they want. Although, I wasn’t sad about Vasily and Aleksandr because they were just murderous creeps . However, it really was disgusting HOW they died, along with an innocent woman. I guess that the smartest person involved was Churchill Ames. He got the heck outta Dodge as soon as he was threatened by Vasily, but not before another innocent woman was killed.

This was such a good story I’m moving on to the next book instead of waiting so long
in-between the books.

No sex and the F-bomb was used 37 times.

As to the narration: Just like the first book I loved Phil Thron’s narration and I hated it. Loved the voices he gave all his male characters but hated the women’s voices. It was like he really didn’t even try to sound feminine. His emotions when he read was awesome, though.

Palm Beach Poison

Any additional comments?

I was given this audio in exchange for an honest review.

This is a typical murder investigation. The character's are a bit quirky. Their are lots of references to Donald Trump in the story. This was a fun story, great job with the narration!

Mystery with a Twist

What did you love best about Palm Beach Poison?

The story line was a constant surprise. Just when I though the story might be going one way, it took a surprising turn.

What did you like best about this story?

The author was pretty inventive with several of the death scenes. Made me wonder how the author came up with some of the ideas.

Which scene was your favorite?

I really enjoyed the ending. The reveal at the end is usually my favorite part of the book and this was no exception.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Be Careful When You Go Into the Pool!

Damn Russians! Golf Course Envy and Murder!

What made the experience of listening to Palm Beach Poison the most enjoyable?

I enjoy books that use location as part of the story. Different plots than the norm. And interesting Good and Bad Guys. "Palm Beach Poison" incorporates these elements.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot develops at a fast pace. You won't grow complacent!! I do commiserate with Tom Turner politically, but the included political commentary detracts from the work. In my opinion, anyway.

Which character – as performed by Phil Thron – was your favorite?

Crawford and Otto. However, I look at the performance as a whole. In that regard, the performance raised the writing up.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It worked out with breaking it up into three or four sittings.

Any additional comments?

Thanks for the opportunity to listen and offer my opinions on this work!

Wow!

Both the author and narrator were new to me, and I am so happy that I found them. I will definitely look for more books with them. The narrator did a great job with all of his accents for the various characters. The book was full of twists. My review is not a synopsis of the book but rather my opinion of it. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. I thought this book was a great standalone listen and it is part of a series.

Spellbinding..

The characters are appealing and the procedural elements are both believable and interesting. Descriptions and dialogue make excellent reading. I was eager to find out how things turned out in the case, which had plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing about the solution.

Very Entertaining Police Procedural Series

I really liked the way this book starts out with two Russian mobsters taking control of a wealthy community and leading you to believe they are behind a brilliant financial scheme, either sell them what they want from you or risk the consequences. How they did it, in the first chapter a wealthy attorney and his high priced call girl are by his pool. She decides to go for a swim when someone releases 20 water moccasins in his backyard. She dies, he gets away with only one small bite on his leg while running away. After that the demands to the wealthy and influential people increase and so do the threats. But don't think you have it figured out, it took the protagonist, Charlie Parker 90% of the book to figure out who the real bad guy is.

The narrator Phil Thron did an excellent job narrating.
This book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Loved it.

Any additional comments?

I received a copy of this audio title for free in exchange for an unbiased review.

I have to say I absolutely loved this book. Fun story, fantastic characters (love them crazy Russians), and a satisfying conclusion. I don't want to spoil anything, but hat's off to Tom Turner for coming up with a really unique way to murder people! Didn't realize when I started listening that this was the second book in the series. Checked my kindle and saw that I already own the first book, but now I am thinking I'll hold off on reading it because...I think I want to listen to it instead! Whether listening or reading, I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more of Turner's work.

Phil Thron's narration was fantastic. I just checked his body of work here on Audible and I am blown away that he only has 4 books to his name so far! I must say I am pleased to see he's the narrators on Tom's other book. I love when I series has a consistent narrator. And I am also pleased to see the other books he has to his name are the first two Space Team novels! Phil's range of voices/accents was impressive to say the least in this book, and I imagine it will be similarly spectacular with the cast of the Space Team novels. No clue how authors and narrators end up coming together, but I hope more authors take not of Phil's spectacular work and he keeps recording. He could easily become one of my favorite narrators.
