Story
Renegade dragon hunter Dorn hates dragons with a passion few can believe, let alone match. He has devoted his entire life - a life spent in the twisted body of a half-golem - to killing every dragon he can find. You might feel the same way if one of them had killed your entire family in front of your eyes, bitten you in half, and left you for dead. Killing one dragon at a time is hard enough, but when the irresistible impluse to slip into feral madness begins to overcome not one but every dragon all across Faern, civilization's only hope may lie in the last alliance Dorn and his fellow dragon hunters would ever accept.

Story
You define life or it defines you. In Shawn Speakman’s case, it was both. Lacking health insurance and diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2011, Shawn quickly accrued a massive medical debt that he did not have the ability to pay. That’s when New York Times best-selling author Terry Brooks offered to donate a short story that Shawn could sell to help alleviate those bills—and suggested he ask the same of his other writer friends. Unfettered is the result: An anthology built in order to relieve that debt, featuring short stories by some of the best fantasy writers in the genre.

Story
In the deep forests of Kyonin, elves live secretively among their own kind, far from the prying eyes of other races. Few of impure blood are allowed beyond the nation's borders, and thus it's a great honor for the half-elven Count Varian Jeggare and his hellspawn bodyguard, Radovan, to be allowed inside. Yet all is not well in the elven kingdom: Demons stir in its depths, and an intricate web of politics seems destined to catch the two travelers in its snares.

Good story, average narration
Byers writes a good story, but the narrator needs to study unfamiliar words. Her characterizations were good, but mispronounced some names and some words. Especially "poleaxe". It's an issue I've heard with other titles in this genre, especially Forgotten Realms books.

Painful to listen to
The story itself is well-written and fits neatly into the series. However, the narration was simply atrocious. The narrator sounded like she was reading a romance novel. I did everything I could to cover as much of the book as possible reading it on my Kindle so as not to subject myself to the narrator.
In summary my recommendation is to read this book and not listen to it.

Better than expected..
The author and narrator did a fantastic job with this story. I am big E. Cale fan and was wondering if Paul Kemp would only be able to satisfy this storyline. Great surprise!!

Good story poor narrator.
You can tell that the narrator is not a fan of the forgotten realms novels. She narrates the book really choppy and mispronounces many words that are familiar to most forgotten realms enthusiast.

Ok story but narration brings it down
The story is not bad, but I wasn't a fan of the narration. I think Ms. Suheyla El Attar was a poor choice for this particular book. Her pronunciation and characterization seemed exaggerated at times, shattering immersion. My recommendation is to skip this one and get the Kindle version instead. I was planning on listening to the whole series on Audible, but I will skip the next books in the series read by this person.
