About this listen

The first time I meet Maliki Bridges, I'm 18, and he kicks me out of his bar. Two years later, he does it again.

He's the town's hottest bartender. He thinks I'm a spoiled rich girl. I think he has a stick up his ass.

Once I'm old enough to drink, we become friends. Nothing more...

Until we become roommates. It's a bad idea, moving in with him, but any opportunity I get to be around him I'll take. Consequences be damned.

Contains mature themes.

4/5

First and foremost as a lover for Kyle and Chloe I did not like how Sierra seems to have an issue with Chloe every time the families drama was referenced. Like how do you blame Chloe more than you blame your own father all because you “used to be a daddy’s girl” girl grow up! (Clearly I’m team Chloe)

Besides that I guess I liked the story ….I guess. Maliki was pretty laid back, not overly possessive but the relationship took forever to progress. But Sierra constantly gave off immature and unsure. She says Maliki has a kid “JUST LIKE YOU” meanwhile the man never knew. It’s like girl I get being upset that he withheld it but you KNEW something was up. Deciding that sex excuses it is all on you.

DAMN THIS F-ING BOOK!!!

I LOVE THIS BOOK!! it had twisted turn coming from EVERY ANGLE, the amount of plot twist this book had could’ve sent me into cardiac arrest lol! I thought it was just gonna be a basic cute, simple romcom story about two people who are roommates that end up falling in love, BOY was wrong. The only downside is that many of the characters are very irritating and lack of significant amount of communication skills. Would still recommend though, it was a fun read.

My FAVORITE Of The Series So Far . . .

YES!! 👏🏻 I LOVED this story WAY better than any of the others!! (I honestly don’t know why this book has so many bad reviews; I freaking LOVED it! 😍) I LOVED Sierra (the female lead) & Maliki (the male lead) SO much!! (I actually knew of Maliki & Sierra from reading the Twisted Fox series 1st—I know, I did it kinda backwards—& as a result, was REALLY looking forward to their story SO much!!) And I was NOT disappointed AT ALL!! It’s SO refreshing when we get a romance hero that’s NOT a jerk at first (I don’t know, I just never really been into the enemies-to-lovers trope that much—UNLESS it’s REALLY well done—and always liked the friends-to-lovers trope WAY better!) I LOVED their flirty, little banter back & forth with each other in the beginning when Maliki caught Sierra sneaking underage into his bar (she was 18–a legal adult—she wasn’t like a 15- or 16-year-old high school kid at the beginning, don’t worry 😉)!! You could FEEL their chemistry at the VERY BEGINNING!! I LOVED that!! Then, as time went on, they became friends 1st BEFORE they got together! I loved that, too! The only thing I didn’t quite like was when Maliki found out he had a daughter (again, I knew he had a daughter from reading Twisted Fox 1st, but didn’t quite know the exact circumstances as to who was the mother & everything), he suddenly turned into a completely idiot, out-right LYING to Sierra about where he was & who he was really with—to the point that Sierra thought he was cheating on her!! I was like, “Really, dude, you already KNEW that she had trust issues & now she KNOWS you’re lying to her!! Just tell her, man! She isn’t gonna leave you just because you have a daughter; she isn’t that type of person!” Another thing that I didn’t like is how often Maliki brought up her age to her face when they finally got together. I was like, “C’mon, man! You KNEW she was younger than you before you started this thing with her! Quite throwing it in her face like that! She can’t change her age & you know it!” I was really reminded of Taylor’s “All Too Well (10-Minute Version)” (I’m a MAJOR Swiftie) whenever he brought up her age like he did!! I was totally on Sierra‘s side in their little breakup; Maliki was acting like a complete jerk. Mainly for this reason, it went down from a 5-star book to like a 4.8 or a 4.9 for me. But he DID apologize in the end & he DID sound sincere in his apology, so . . . Another thing I wished we (the reader) got was Maliki’s P.O.V. in the beginning; we just got Sierra’s P.O.V. in the beginning, and I wished we just knew what Maliki 1st thought the 1st time she snuck into his bar, too, for example. The only character that really got on my nerves was Jessa (Maliki’s daughter’s mom). I don’t know what her deal is . . . It’s like, “Okay, c’mon, I get that you wanna be a family with this guy (Maliki), but he’s CLEARLY not interested in that!! Just stop!!” Other than that, though, it was a really fun, nice read for me & now I’m looking really forward to Book 6: Rex & Carolina‘s story!! (And, P.S.: You DO get a little of annoying Willow in this story, but it’s at the very end and, surprisingly, she isn’t so annoying! Plus, it IS VERY little, so that helps, too . . . ) 👍🏻😍😊

Enjoyable Story

I throughly enjoyed the plot and the way Sienna made her way into Maliki’s life, it definitely was memorable. MC’s were likable, strong family bonds, plenty of angst, and enjoyed the inputs from previous characters. The FMC’s had a cheating ex leaving her with trust issues. It’s great she had a zero tolerance and divorced him. The MMC was a womanizer before their relationship started then a life altering secret was disclosed to him and he didn’t know how to explain it to the FMC which eventually caused doubt, lies, a break up, and trust issues. Dual narration was great, no epilogue and a HEA.
