Save your credit

It's interesting, but nowhere near the style or quality ofLarry Correia's books. I would have been surprised he'd put his name on them, if he hadn't already done the same for other vaguely related tales.

I want to like it....

I am a huge MHI fan, and Larry Corriea story was fine. I guess it's the cultural difference? I can't put my finger on it, but the stories were foreign and unsatisfying. Sorry, but truth is what it is...

If you need to sleep then listen to this book

The narrator will put you to sleep. I couldn’t finish this book and it pisses me off because I absolutely love this series. Larry dropped the ball on this one. The reason I stopped listening to it is because the narrator sounds the same regardless of the character. I couldn’t keep up with who was who. It literally bored me to death. Writing this review just pains my heart but you need to know. Save your money and time and buy something else.

It's what I expected

I liked this book. Compared to some of the negative reviews, this is what I expected. It's an anthology of 11 short stories, originally written in Czech, by Czech authors, set in the Czech Republic, of hunters fighting Czech monsters. The translation is overall very good. There are some phrases here and there that could use better editing in English. I don't speak Czech and you don't need to either to enjoy the book. I didn't have problems following any of the names, places, or euphemisms. If you expected to see the MHI crowd run around Alabama, this isn't it. If you want to hear some fun short stories of characters you don't know fight some Slavic monsters in towns set in Eastern Europe written by authors you likely haven't read before then I recommend listening to this book. The stories are all different, some are better than others, but overall I enjoyed it.

Not what I wanted/ expected.

The audience for this book, is mainly the Czech area. if the authors had explained their cultural references or provided more in depth information on words used, it would have felt more immersive. Instead, I could never fully dive into the stories, because a quarter of the time, I am trying to understand words, phrases or references only known to people if that area.

I love Larry's works and I think I understand what he was trying to accomplish with this release, but... I would rather have spent the money on one of his actual followup books to the main storyline.

One last observation, I did not feel very much love/energy from the orator, telling the stories.

Just my 2 cents.

This does not work.

I ignored the other comments because I love MHI and I wanted to see for myself.

Well, as they say, FAFO.

This isn't even remotely like MHI. It does not work. The stories are disjointed and the narrator is like a robot. I got 3 hours in and gave up.

Part of the problem is that it's set in a culture I know nothing about. There is no mental framework within which to understand the stories. It's distracting and constantly takes on out of the narrative, Such as it is.

I'm going to ask for a refund.

I'm a bit disappointed but I guess coming off the the Monster Hunter series my expectations were super high.

Not Monster Hunter stories

Wish I had waited for others input. This is So different from our usual monster hunter stories.
Bc of this difference, stories weren’t interesting to me and lacked any actual monster hunting.
They also went on too long with little action or interesting new info.
This is my very first neg review so I did try all the stories to see if some were better than others. Unfortunately none held my interest.
Narration was great tho!!

lacked substance

the performance was good but the story lacked cohesion, granted this is an anthology but to me it felt like it wasn't worthy of the MHI legacy. It's a shame I typically really enjoy these books.

like all anthologies, it's okay

worth a listen if you're a huge MHI fan, not really otherwise. There are a couple of solid stories and the rest is pretty meh. But that's just my opinion, your mileage may vary.
