Erotic contemporary romance - 18+ for descriptive love scenes and language

Sparks fly...lines blur...and hearts break

Alexander Avery is rich, powerful, and the sexiest man Angeline Hemming has ever laid eyes on: a man like every woman dreams about. Angel is not immune to his sensual and ruthless pursuit, and Alex is intoxicated by the beautiful doctor - overwhelmed with desire like he's never known.

As the profiling case Angel is working on gets more and more dangerous, Alex finds himself filled with unfamiliar panic and emotional turmoil; his need to protect her goes against Angel's adamant insistence that she doesn't need his help. He isn't a man to sit on the sidelines when the woman he's obsessed with is threatened, so he takes control to protect her without telling her of his plans.

Angel's fortitude is shaken when her stalker invades not only her personal life but also those close to her...even when that someone is powerful and seemingly untouchable. Professional ethics insist she keeps the details of her work away from her lover, even as their newfound closeness has her yearning to confide in him. But as Angel's quest to protect her heart from Alex's undeniable pull equals her need to keep him out of a dangerous situation, circumstances dictate a huge decision - which could have detrimental and irreversible consequences for them both.

When danger threatens and jealousy reaches the boiling point, lies will be told, and secrets will be kept.... Even with the best intentions and the most undeniable connection, the deepest of loves will be tested.

Middle of Story

***Given this title free, for review***
This is the second title in the series, and I didn't read the first story. The story started as a continuation of the first book. I was confused at first, but was able to figure out the characters, ongoing plot, etc. I thought because of the rough start I thought I would hate the story, but I found myself really into the story. I am unsure if, what I feel was, a loose end will be resolved in the third book.

A great series with narrators that fit their characters perfectly.
Drama, suspense and some very hot romance scenes.

great but the lead woman is a little Annoying LOL!

Overall I love this book! I knew I would love it, romance is always awesome, but the lead female character Angel is really annoying!
The annoying thing is that there are so many women out there that really psych themselves up for more trouble than they need to. There were so many times Alex approved...... in his actions that he was serious about her, that she was different, that he was not going anywhere, but Angel just wouldn't accept it.
I know she is a smart independent woman, but sometimes we are so smart we can really be idiots when it comes to matters of the heart. If Alex were not so determined in such a fighter, he would have given up a long time ago. Of course the readers are happy that he didn't, most of us want a happy ending, but it was really nerve-racking listening to her whining. And just to be clear, I am talking about the character not the narrator!
So, I love the book and I am very excited to hear the next one, but I just wanted to express my frustrations about angel lol.

Ups and downs for me

I found the vocal exaggerations like moaning and screaming to be very awkward sounding.

The storyline at the end of the book almost made me put the book down with the frustration of the "off and on" emotions.

It was difficult to accept that the female protagonist was a professional psychologist or sociologist when her actions were so irrational and final. She would just sever the relationship rather than work through the issues. It took away from her credibility for me and I do understand that her backstory contributed to it.

I do love the storyline though and I loved the connection between the 2 protagonists. The positive relaxed scenes were a joy to read as the description of their connection was excellent. I have every intention of reading the 3rd book!

Loved the dual narration!

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really enjoyed the narration and it brought the story to life.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the series and loved the dual narration. This was the first book I heard with dual narration and it was very enjoyable.

Awesome

I just love these books. I hate the dam suspense ,the drama, drives me crazy. But great reads. I also love the way these books were narrated, no fake boys voices or girls voices. Love Zachary Webber’s voice

Too much push and pull

This book was incredibly frustrating and honestly I wanted to DNF it so many times. After finishing Book 1, I thought this series was going to be a refreshing change and had really high hopes that it was going to be amazing.

The downfall of book 2 was what happened to be why I thought book 1 was so amazing. In book 1, I thought wow, we finally have a heroine who is well educated, strong and had such a healthy respect for herself. She is a criminal profiler and a relationship talk show host on the side. We got to see her give advice to women and how to handle their relationships in book 1. Her guidance was smart and helped women to see they needed that same self respect she was displaying in herself. When Angel finally met Alex, a known playboy, I thought she handled him perfectly.

This leads us into book 2 and at the beginning of hers and Alex's relationship and danger that is lurking after Angel. The book just fell apart at the first sign of trouble. Angel pushed Alex away so fast I got whiplash from it. She turned from a smart, intelligent woman, to a someone I didn't recognize. All that wonderful advice she gave to her listeners went out the window. She even admits this to herself.

This whole book, these two are only together maybe 2 or 3 chapters. The rest was fighting. I don't even blame Alex. He was fighting for her, them as a couple and for her safety and all she did was push and treat him like he was the one in the wrong. It got to a point where I felt Alex deserved someone better.

I hate that I'm letting her actions dictate how much I didn't enjoy this book. Everything else about what I loved in Book 1 is stil here in book 2, except Angel. She set a cloud of doom over all of it with the way she handled everything. I did manage to make it to the end to see Angel and Alex finally get back together. This gives me high hopes that book 3 will be more like book 1.

Fantastic!!

Confessions After Dark blew me away! This is book 2 in the After Dark series by Kahlen Aymes. The intensity and passion are kicked up a notch in this book with added suspense.
The narrators only made this book hotter!!

The more I get of Alex, the more I want. In this book we get to see all sides of Alex, hard, soft, emotional and of course alpha!

Angels hard exterior crumbles as she opens herself to Alex.

This is a 5 star must read! I can't wait to see what Kahlen has in store for us in Promises After Dark!

Can't wait for more!

I am loving these characters and this story. Angel is a strong heroine which is sadly kind of rare in romance these days. The drama and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. I can't say enough about the amazing narration of this book as well - fantastic!!!

Performance great but heroine is infuriating!

I love the voice actors but the story is disjointed in many places. that could have been forgiven if the leading lady wasn't so absurd. she's supposed to be a self confident and intelligent woman and instead we get a hysterical and irrational twit that doesn't use even a minute of logic in any of her actions. in reality if someone in her position behaved the way she does, she would lose her job much less the love of her life. women like this hurt those of us that work to be taken seriously in relationships and in the office. this is why men refuse to see us as equal. If you truly love someone, you have to be able to talk to them about anything. you can't use every excuse to run away and have no consideration for the other person. I will look for other books read by the narrators but not interested in more stereotypical weak women.
