Publisher's summary

Eli may only be 30, but he has had enough of pretend submissives. When he spies Jarod in a BDSM club, everything about the man screams submission. So what if Jarod is probably 20 years older than Eli. What does age matter, anyway? All he can see is what he's always wanted - a sub who wants to serve.

Jarod spent 24 years with his Master before fate took him. Four years on, Jarod is still lost, so when a young Dom takes charge, Jarod rolls with it and finds himself serving again. But he keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop. Because there's going to come a point when Eli realizes he's a laughingstock in the club. Who would want to be seen with a 50-year-old sub?

After several missteps, Eli realizes that in order to find happiness, they will need friends who will understand. At a friend's insistence, he visits Collars & Cuffs, where they are met with open arms. As they settle in to their new life, Eli begins to see things differently and he dares to think he can have it all. Until a phone call threatens to take it all away.

Loved the book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I am not sure. I HATE that the 50 year old sounds like he is 91.

What did you like best about this story?

The love

What does Joel Leslie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Did not like the voice of 50 year old.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

I loved the book but did not like the voice of the sub. He sounded like he was 91. I am 63 and people our age do not sound like they are dying !

Outstanding narration!

After reading the synopsis for this seventh book in the Collars & Cuffs series, it had my interest piqued for the young Dom/older submissive angle, a switch to the opposite of what we've seen so far in the series. When I started reading Dom of Ages, I thought it had some great potential with the way both Eli and Jarod were introduced and meet. But once Eli takes Jarod home, I became a little disillusioned with the story.

The way Eli acts after bringing Jarod home with him, it seems more like he's looking for someone to do the house chores than for someone to participate in a D/s scene or relationship. He treats Jarod more like a servant or child than a submissive, which to me felt like a lack of respect and like he was taking advantage of Jarod. It's not just Eli either-after Jarod goes home with Eli, he seems content in the role Eli is setting for him which to me feels absolutely nothing like the other couples we've seen throughout this series.

The rest of the characters are wonderful as they've been through the entire series. The accept Eli and Jarod without reservations, and envelop them into the Collars & Cuffs family from the moment they set foot in the club. The C&C Doms and subs alike provide guidance and advice to both men, and in the end I came away satisfied that their relationship had evolved into something more equal than where it started. Eli does definitely undergo character growth during this story, and thankfully starts to evolve into more caring and loving Dom than when the story starts out.

Dom of Ages was a 3-star read for me, and I'd recommend it to M/M BDSM romance readers/listeners 18+ for adult language and explicit M/M sexual content. Now for the narration...

Joel Leslie does an AMAZING job of authentically voicing the Collars and Cuffs characters. While I enjoyed the earlier audiobooks in the series, the one thing I was disappointed in was that the narration in those was in an American accent instead of British. That's remedied here in Dom of Ages, and it really helped me enjoy the story more since now their voices matched who the characters really were. There were some times that Jarrod's sounded older than he really was to me (he's only 50 but the tone of his voice made him sound older than that), but otherwise everything was spot-on. The voices were consistent across all of the characters, and their emotions really came through in the narration. A very clear 5 stars for the narration!

Fabulous Story & Listen🎧📚🎧 Captivating & Heartfelt

I loved everything about this book, from the K.C. Wells & Parker Williams wonderful writing style to the story and characters they created. The storylines are interesting and original, they swept me right in, grabbing my attention and my heart and captivating both straight to the end. The characters are well developed, they are realistic and easy to connect with. Jared loses his Master of 24 years, he hid himself away from the world for four years and when he finally gets the courage to step out and go to the club he used to attend with his Master he has difficulties fitting in and being accepted. The club has changed hands and is more focused on trend than the D/s life style. Eli is a Dom, his friends tell him he should join Collars & Cuffs but he is a member of another club closer to where he lives. The club has changed over the years, he is looking for a more mature submissive, not the fakers the club attracts, when he sees an older sub being ridiculed he goes over to speak to him and something clicked for him. Jared is happy to have someone he can serve and Eli is happy to have him but he learns he is going about things the wrong way. I loved these two together, I thought they were great together and for each other. This is a unique age gap romance, the submissive is close to 20 years older than his Dom and it works and while Jared struggled with it for a while, in the end it just shows that age is just a number and love is love. There is never a dull moment in this book, there is plenty of drama, a touch of angst, lots of heartfelt and emotional moments and a wonderful romance. Thank you for another fabulous story, I am loving this series and the uniqueness and originality each books storylines and characters. Also love how you keep it all real.

Joel Leslie is a talented narrator and voice artist. He is fabulous at portraying the characters, humanizing them, giving each their own voice and personality. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures the characters emotions and projects them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen🎧

Awesome 👍

Loved the older sub, younger Dom story. It was moving and heartfelt, some parts sad and some funny, so the whole package.
The narration was really good differencing the various characters, giving them their unique voice.
Going to get the next book right away ;)

One of my favorites

Eli and Jarrod's story is one of my favorite in the series. I loved the older sub/younger dom roles. At first Eli takes Jarrod for granted. He was so happy to have someone take care of him that he didnt really think of Jarrod. Jarrod on the other hand, was delighted to be needed by someone after being alone since the death of his former dom. Eventually the couple comes together to explore the dynamics of their relationship fully. I loved how accepting of Jarrod the guys at Collars and Cuff were. The sleepover is one of my favorite scenes. This book deals with death and health problems, but the overall theme is love and acceptance.
When i first bought this audio, i fully admit that i was disappointed that is was a different narrator. This was also my first audio by Joel Leslie. Well let me tell you this started my obsession with him!!! He did an amazing job!

Strong plot, with plenty of kink, heat and heart.

This was an excellently written BDSM story with an interesting twist. Instead of all the trite hot young twink subs, we're provided a fine mature man of 50 filling the submissive role. The introduction is a tear jerker for sure. But as we read on and get to know both partners, a true romance, not just a kinkfest, develops. Not to say there isn't plenty of kink. We get a bit of restraint, a little pain, precision tools, and some deprivation, but it's all well written, and flows with mutual chemistry. The support characters are a joy to read and had me smiling the whole time I listened, and that's saying something because I was raking leaves. I'm sure my family had to wonder what the hell was going on.
Only one little thing stuck in my craw, the narrators voice for Jarod made him sound like he's an 80 year old geezer more often than not. My hubby is 54, and I can tell you he's no geezer, and his voice is not strained. That is the only reason I rated the narration like that. Joel does well with the narration everywhere else. Once I got beyond that I could appreciate how each character had their own distinctive voice. My favorite character in this story was actually Maggy, Jarod's mother. Not only did the narrator make her sound just like the Dowager Countess of Downton Abbey, she's just as wild and kinky as her son! Made me laugh out loud.
If you like some bondage with your boyfriends, and you're agreement with me that with age comes refinement and richness, then you'll love this story. I did not read the previous books, and though they are all tied together, this read fine as a stand alone. Dom of Ages was a pleasure to listen to, Wells and Williams make a great team, and I know I look forward to giving the rest of the series a try!

Big fan of the series but...

I really did enjoy the story line of this book, but I did not enjoy the narrator’s take on the characters. He made everyone sound twice their age which put me off. But if you are a fan of this series like I am it’s still worth the listen.
