About this listen

Katrina

The DeLaCoeur family destroyed my family, and ever since I was a little girl, I vowed I would have my revenge. Now the time has come, and I've waited my whole life for this. The heir to the family fortune is first on my list. Jackson. It should be easy - he's just a billionaire playboy that's used to women falling at his knees. I'll play along, I'll seduce him, and I'll humiliate him. But the second his warm lips burn into my neck, I fear that I might wind up sleeping with the enemy.

Jackson

Katrina Grammercy is after me for a crime I didn't commit. She wants to ruin my reputation - make me pay for my father's sins. But she doesn't know who she's f--king with. In this game, I make the rules. She'll be just like the rest - one taste of me, and she's done.

She wants revenge?

I'll give her revenge, by owning her sweet, tight little ass.

Great Read

Revenge (Secrets & Lies #1) was a great read by Lauren Landish. Katrina is looking to get revenge on the DeLaCoeur family since they destroyed her family. The first person on her list is Jackson, the heir to the family fortune. She plans to seduce and then humiliate him. He plans to show her that she’s messing with the wrong person. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

There is a thin line between love and hate.

Was the story enjoyable? Yes. Did it keep my attention? Yes. The story pulls you in from the start. Was it as good as I thought it would be? Not quite. Overall though the story was interesting, engaging and entertaining.

Katrina has been planning her revenge on the DeLaCoeur family for years but with her first strike, aimed at her childhood best friend, she is left conflicted with feelings she thought were long buried.

I really liked that Katrina was a strong intelligent female character. She was a survivor and a fighter. She knew what she wanted and worked hard for it. She was not about to back down from a fight or let herself be derailed from her goal.

Jackson was an interesting character. He starts out being a complete douche and quickly turns into a great character.

A little more time spent on developing the relationship between Katrina and Jackson would have been nice. Not their steamy encounters, the building of their actual relationship. The chemistry between them just wasn't there for most of the story. By the end though your rooting for them. Especially Jackson.

Meghan Kelly did a really good job with the narration. Pleasant voice. Good character voices. Even her male character voices are good. Clearly spoken with a smooth even pace. She was able make you feel the emotions of both Katrina and Jackson. Very enjoyable

Even though I enjoy Meghan's narration this is one of those books that would have benefited by having dual narration.

Interesting spin on a traditional romance story

Great twist on a romance story! Kept me intrigued all the way through! You will not be disappointed with this book if you love a good story with romance mixed in.

In The Middle!

I'm in the middle of this one. I really liked the concept of the story, a girl wronged by her childhood best friend's family, Jackson. She's hell bent on Revenge starting with Jackson and ending with his father, and she doesn't care who she hurts along the way. When she starts implementing her plans, she ends up with conflicting emotions about getting even with Jackson. While he's lead the good life due to his father's blood money, he hasn't been totally corrupted either. After the first incident, he's well aware of her plans of revenge and tries to discourage her but for the past 10 years that's all she's focused on. One thing I really liked about this story, were the plot twists, there were multiple plot twists that kept the story interesting and moving along. The one thing I didn't like was the lack of chemistry between the characters. They worked well together on some things but you really never felt the connection between them. There were several steamy moments between them (especially at the end), but the story has more drama and action than a steamy connection.

Megan Kelly did a really good job with the narration. I like how she portrayed all the character's different emotions.

Overall, not a bad story. It has more drama, suspense and action than romance. I received this audio in exchange for an honest review.

Crazy Couple UNITE!!! lol

This was a pretty good story. There is some of it that screams I'm a psycho that's off my meds though. I love reading twisted books, but this is a different kind of twisted than I am used to. All I know is that Kat and Jackson need to spend some time in therapy and learn to be a little less crazy (or is it stupid?).

The narration was ok. The beginning on the male part was kinda hard to tell it was even supposed to be male, but as it went along it got better (or I just got used to it I'm not sure). My biggest complaint though was accent... This book is supposed to be 2 people born and raised in Louisiana.... It sounded more like a northern accent and takes away from this story in my mind. Meghan Kelly is probably a very good narrator, but this story just wasn't one for her in my opinion.

Intriguing plot!

Any additional comments?

Hm… I’ll start with saying that I really liked the overall storyline. There is so much going on, so much intrigue, and so many secrets – a suspenseful drama with a breath of romance.

A girl mistreated in her childhood by those she loved unconditionally, who spent the last ten years doing nothing but planning her revenge. She will start with Jackson, her childhood best friend, und work her way through until she comes face to face with his father. But when she gets close to Jackson, starting with her plan, old feelings resurface and complicate her mission more than she could have ever thought…

But all those plot-twists were not enough for me to get fully invested in the story. It was lacking romance and chemistry between the two characters in my opinion, there was just never a real connection between them – and I’m not even talking about the purely physical aspect. I was missing those tiny moments that I love so much in romance novels.

The narration was done by Meghan Kelly. This is the second of her works I’ve listened to, and while I liked this one more than the previous one, I found her narration outside of the dialogue to be to wobbly, a constant strange up and down in her voice as if she couldn’t be done with it fast enough. I really loved the way she spoke Jackson though. He was the character I found the most likeable.

Overall an enjoyable story with a very interesting plotline, so if you are fine with the romance not being the top priority, this is the book for you!

Revenge with several twists & turns.

I really enjoyed this story and the idea of a girl seeking revenge after her parents are murdered. Katrina is left in foster care to fend for herself. I found it difficult to understand why she would start with her childhood best friend Jackson. He was not the one responsible for it and the story develops and you find more twists and turns. I did not think her train of thought made sense when some unexpected things were revealed throughout the story.

The narration was very good. It brought the story to life. The only problem I had with some of the narration was that sometimes the intonation did not match what was being said.

The chemistry between Jackson & Katrina was lacking a bit. There was a lot of drama, suspense, action, and plenty twists & turns.

Overall a good book and I enjoyed listening to it.

Very Good Book

Would you consider the audio edition of Revenge to be better than the print version?

I have read several books by Lauren Landish and this was the first audible book by her that I have listened to. I initially had a hard time with the narrator when she did the voice of Jackson but that was probably me getting used to the new narrator. I really enjoyed this audio version.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Revenge?

I loved the opening scene in the limo. It was nice payback.

Which scene was your favorite?

I liked it when Kat and Jackson decided on the wedding jewelry.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was sad for Jackson when he thought Katrina was killed.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the characters in this book. I think it would be neat if Andrea had her own story. I did not rate this story higher as I felt parts of it were so unrealistic.(Kat and Jackson ages, Kat living off the grid like she did to mention a few). I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and/or publisher. This story was a very enjoyable getaway book with suspense and romance.

Typical

I got this ARC via audiobook boom. This story of revenge turning into love was typical. Although the chemistry was not really there between them. The narrator was very good and I enjoy listening to her. The story was developed but it did not resonate with me. I find it hard to believe that she wanted to ruin Jackson because of something that his father did. She is so set on revenge that she does not care who she hurts in the meantime. If you are angry with someone then you should deal with that person, not others such as the son.

alright

Any additional comments?

This audiobook was given to me for an honest unbiased review. This concept sounded intriguing, but fell flat. The female character was more about her revenge then anything, then she becomes conflicted with feeling for her enemy. The out for revenge story plot has to be done right, i don't feel this was one right. The characters had no real chemistry.
