Publisher's summary

The earl of Sefton is delighted when he sees the midwife approaching bearing a tiny bundle. Within moments of being introduced to his new son, his world is shattered by the news that his wife did not survive the birth. Thorne, a man used to commanding regiments, puts his emotions aside to deal with providing for his newborn son. His first concern - one made known to the entire household by his heir's fully functioning lungs - is to secure a wet nurse. Catherine had met and married her seafaring officer within days of meeting him. She had been selling jams and jellies for her church on market day when Thomas swept her off her feet. She fell wildly in love, and when he proposed she was delighted to finally be free of her aunt. When Thomas shipped out two weeks after marrying her, he promised to return. Four months later it was confirmed that all hands were lost at sea. It was at about that time she could not deny her swelling belly. Told by the midwife attending her that her child was stillborn, Catherine is beside herself with grief. Now, all alone, with nowhere to turn, she has no choice but to accept the position of wet nurse when it is offered. The earl's entire household is charmed by Catherine and well pleased that she is able to bring peace and quiet as well as joy back to the manor. As Catherine and Thorne grieve for their spouses and tend to the young heir's needs, the three of them begin to bond. They take walks, share meals, and read books together. They laugh again, which neither thought they would ever do...and they become friends. Then they kiss, and one night, when he discovers her self-pleasuring, they become much more. It is a magical time on the coast of England. Southport is a bustling harbor on the cusp of wondrous things, and Sefton Manor and its inhabitants are about to embrace it all.

Seconds. Please

Would you listen to The Earl's Wet Nurse again? Why?

This book is amazing! Please allow me to tell you why I feel the way I do.
I was extremely engaged by the plot. The author shines brightly with this golden element. From the beginning to the end of this book the author does an awesome job telling this story. The plot draws you into this wonderful place and time. I was completely drawn in from the beginning.
While I love a good story, which this book offers, the characters make the story work. The author has created characters that you can relate to, that you can understand, and that you care about. I am certain that you will want to read more because you will want to know more about these characters and what happens next. The author did such a fabulous job not only creating these characters but giving great detail about them and the relationships between the characters.
The language of this story is read with excellent brogue. I love the accent of the storyteller. The talented writing of this author paired with a talented actor bought this historical story to life for me.
Ultimately, I love a romance story and this is historical romance novel is wonderfully executed. I simply love it and I am certain you will too. My favorite elements like, plot, language and characters were implemented so well. This book couldn't help but be a fabulous story. I look forward to more.

Great Writing and Storytelling

I'm still listening but I had to write a review. This book is delicious! It took a few minutes to get accustomed to her type of storytelling but once I did oh boy! She had me giggling like a schoolgirl at some of the scenes. Her delivery was off the charts!

The writing is superb. After all a great storyteller can only do so much if they don't have a great story to tell. The attention to detail, the honest emotions, the fully fleshed out characters were phenomenal. I could really imagine what was going on and why it was happening. I loved that the main characters were vulnerable but not stupid and naïve! Nothing ruins what is turning out to be a great story like studied ignorance.

To the author and storyteller both I say thanks a bunch for such a delightful tale.

I lack words to describe why I didn't enjoy this

The narration reminds me of overacted theatre. It was decent initially, but it became more annoying as the story progressed. I'll admit she did a good job with the accents of the house staff, but the storytelling and main characters grated on me.
As far as the story, decent intrigue with mysterious holes in the ground, but they're left unresolved and everyone seemed to forget about them entirely! That was weird. Then again the story is a total cliffhanger. I'd like to know what happens next, but it's not worth the credit to me. As for the earl and his wet nurse, the only reason he seems to fall in love with her is her sex drive. It's obnoxious.
