A.J. Philips is now a social worker and life coach for abuse recovery, and the author of Recovery from Narcissistic Abuse. Her work deals with self-help, healing, and recovery, and is particularly focused on rehabilitation after disengaging from a relationship with someone with narcissism. A personal survivor of narcissistic abuse, After leaving a toxic relationship, she found herself alienated from her social circles and struggling with substance abuse. With the support of her close friends and family, she embarked on years of therapy, engaging in support groups and recovery groups to rediscover her sense of self and step forwards into a happy and fulfilling life. On her recovery journey, Philips began to recognize that she had carried the cycle of trauma and abuse from her childhood into her adult relationships. She had moved from the care of two narcissistic parents into an abusive marriage, without recognizing the repeating patterns. Philips’ experiences have shaped her professional life, and through social work and life coaching, she is dedicated to helping other people leave and recover from emotionally abusive relationships, preventing the cycle from continuing. Philips is dedicated to furthering her research into narcissistic abuse but is careful to carve out time for herself. She loves spending time with her family and friends and is a big lover of nature.
