Dennis "Mitch" Maley has been a featured columnist with the Bradenton Times since 2010. He is a native of Schuylkill County, PA, and graduated from Shippensburg University in 1998, where he was a three-time All-American on the Boxing Team and wrote for the student newspaper. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Army, competing as a heavyweight for the Army World Class Boxing Team and ultimately achieving the rank of Captain. His debut novel, A Long Road Home, was published in 2015. It was followed by a collection of short stories, Casting Shadows, in 2016 and the novella Sacred Hearts in 2017. His first work of historical fiction, Burn Black Wall Street Burn, a meticulously researched and historically-accurate dramatization of the 1921 race massacre in Tulsa, OK, was published in 2021, to broad acclaim.
