DOUG COONEY is the author of The Beloved Dearly, I Know Who Likes You, Nobody's Perfect -- and the forthcoming Leading Ladies. He is also an accomplished playwright and screenwriter who has written numerous works for youth theater, including a musical adaptation of George Saunders' The Very Persistent Gappers of Frip with composer David O for the Mark Taper Forum's P.L.A.Y. The Wind That Blew, written with disabled students at three elementary schools in Miami, Florida, was performed at the International Very Special Arts festival in Belgium. Cooney has written screenplays for SONY Pictures, Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures and television scripts for the Disney Channel and Fox Television. His work has been honored by the National Endowment for the Arts, the MacArthur Foundation, the Kennedy Center's New Visions/New Voices, ASSITEJ, the American Alliance for Theatre and Education and the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs. He lives in Los Angeles, California.
