Her Youtube videos can be clicked at top of home page Her books can be ordered by clicking on the book cover picture Her blogs can be read by clicking on "buttons" on bottom of home page Emily is a native Virginian, living near the Atlantic ocean in Virginia Beach, VA. A graduate of Sweet Briar College, and an assistant editor of The Virginian-Pilot until her first child was born, she suffered several miscarriages but was thrilled to then have two children. Her son is happily married and is a surgeon and cancer researcher and her daughter is happily married and a full time mother and helps with numerous organizations. Emily Slingluff's first book, A PRESENT TO THE NEWBORN, is really a present to every child of any age. It was written at the request of a school director and is easy advice for any parent who wants to best help her child. A director of a large school said it should be required reading for all parents. An esteemed psychologist said that it is the work of a genius. Shortly after the book came out, Emily was named The Fulltime Homemaker of the Year for the State of Virginia, by Eagle Forum and Phyllis Schlafly. She has appeared on many radio and tv programs and written many articles, and won other awards. Her second book, PARENTING WITHOUT PUNISHMENT is 3 points for parents! They make parenting easy. Yes, parenting is easy and not a problem unless the parent so chooses. That statement may surprise some, but hopefully more parents will learn and agree. AND, another short book came out in 2019, CHOOSING HAPPINESS. It is about the hate in this country; the cause of hate and the cure. All of the books are short. Emily says who wants to read a long book these days! And they are surprising to many parents. When Emily was giving one of her first talks, years ago, she was interrupted by a hand in the air and the person asking... " Are you saying you do not believe in discipline?!!" Emily said "Oh yes, I believe in helping the child and you know that "to discipline" means "to teach." Surely a parent can teach a child better by talking and explaining than by hitting or making the child miserable in some way. The books are all on Amazon in paperback and kindle. The world can be no better than the people in it. The formative years are called formative because they are formative. At that time, the most important influence is the parent, directly or indirectly. So, the most important job of all is probably the job of parenting. You will be glad to read these books.
