Eric Fisher was that kid who was always on the front lawn watching lightning flicker in the distance and snowflakes smother the world in any icy blanket. If you're reading this, maybe you were that kid, too! A broadcast meteorologist for the past 15 years, "Mighty Storms of New England" is his first venture away from sound-bytes and tweets to take a deeper look at the powerful storms which became infamous in this corner of the country. Eric's broadcasting work began at WGGB-TV in Springfield, Massachusetts before a jump to The Weather Channel in Atlanta, Georgia. There, Eric traveled across the country to report on numerous natural disasters including the Tornado Superoutbreak in 2011, Hurricanes Irene and Sandy, fierce blizzards, major floods, and other severe weather. His reports also aired nationally on the NBC Nightly News, TODAY, and MSNBC. In 2013 Eric moved back home to Massachusetts and become Chief Meteorologist for WBZ-TV in Boston. In addition to covering the wide variety of New England weather locally, he frequently reports on national severe weather for CBS News. Eric is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany (SUNY) with a B.S. degree in Atmospheric Science. A New England guy at heart, Eric thoroughly enjoys the transformation each season brings. The region features every type of weather from blizzards to hurricanes, high water to drought, fires and tornadoes. Trying to pick a handful of the most notorious events was a difficult task. But in "Mighty Storms of New England" you will find some of the most memorable since early colonists started taking notes on nature's surprising mood swings. Eric lives with his wife and son in Boston where they love walking the city, spending time outdoors, and continually exploring new places.
