My name is Gabrielle, and I have complex PTSD (C-PTSD). For many years, I watched my son’s arduous struggle with depression and drug addiction. My stoicism convinced me that I was strong, but I was mistaken. Just when I thought the worst was over, I began having debilitating panic attacks, nightmares and flashbacks. My doctor, who adopted a “wait and see” attitude, was reticent about giving me a PTSD diagnosis. I was forced to find therapeutic options by navigating the system on my own. I wrote this book to help others who may be facing similar challenges. My book’s credibility is enhanced by being free of professional bias and being based on first-hand experience in the field.
