James Andrew is a teacher by profession who has taught in this country and abroad. He is also a crime novelist with six crime novels to his name. His latest, a contemporary crime novel set in the Scottish Highlands, is called Where Wolves Prowl. A young man, whose name is Jason Sutherland, moves to a seaside town, Nairn, which lies near Inverness. He has come to teach in a school there. When he is invited to a pool party by a beautiful young lady who is part of the fast set, he thinks things are looking up. But after a drunken bash at what is a luxury house someone is found lying dead in the pool. The police pronounce murder and the once happy, carefree crowd turn on one another. But newcomer Jason, with his past coming out into the open, will be at the centre of it all. Who was the killer? And who will go down for the crime? His previous novel, also set in the Scottish Highlands, and also in the contemporary crime genre, is called Burning Suspicion. His publisher describes this as a fiery mystery. After a devastating house fire, family tensions become rife. The police quickly determine this was no accident and Detective Inspector Black is determined to find out the truth and if that means revealing secrets, financial woes, and infidelities, so be it. These are different from James' first four novels, which were all set in the period immediately after the First World War. These are now for sale on Kindle as a box set called The Yorkshire Murders, as well as being available individually. James found this an interesting period to write about. So many people had so many adjustments to make after that war, which affected everyone in Britain. Which family did not lose someone or have someone damaged by that war? It was also a period full of social upheaval. There is a series detective called Inspector Blades who is given a several murders to solve. The first three novels form a trilogy starting with 'The Body Under The Sands', continuing with 'Death Waits For No Lady', and concluding with 'The Riddle of The Dunes'. A stand-alone novel featuring Inspector Blades and continuing the series has now been published. It is called 'The Suitcase Murderer.' In his reading, James is particularly interested in novels from the Golden Age of Detective Stories between the wars. James is also a poet with three books of poetry to his name. The first 'Sailing the Sands' won a Scottish Arts Council Award; it contains poems set in this country and in various others he encountered in travelling. His second was called 'Birdsong and Flames' and gives his reactions to living and working in Turkey. The third, also written when he was working in Turkey, is called 'The City That Moved'. It is now available on Kindle.
