JOHN OLIVE is a widely-produced and award-winning playwright. Titles include: MINNESOTA MOON, KILLERS, THE SUMMER MOON, THE VOICE OF THE PRAIRIE, STANDING ON MY KNEES, GOD FIRE. Producing theaters include: Steppenwolf, Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Old Globe, South Coast Rep, the Guthrie, ACT/Seattle, Oregon Shakespeare, Manhattan Theatre Club. And many others. He has won fellowships from the Bush Foundation, the McKnight Foundation and from the National Endowment for the Arts. THE SUMMER MOON won a Kennedy Center Award for Drama. Lately, John has written extensively in the area of Theater For Young Audiences: SIDEWAYS STORIES FROM WAYSIDE SCHOOL, JOHNNY TREMAIN, JASON AND THE GOLDEN FLEECE, PHARAOH SERKET AND THE LOST STONE OF FIRE, ART DOG, THE MAGIC BICYCLE. Producing theaters have included: Seattle Children's, First Stage Milwaukee, First Stage Louisville, the Arden, People's Light, Oregon Children's. And many others. John has written screenplays (A SLAYING SONG TONIGHT, THE DEFLOWERING OF YOUNG FATHER TRIMLEIGH), young adult fiction (DEEP RIVER, SMARTASS), non-fiction (TELL ME A STORY IN THE DARK, available from Familius, Inc) and theater reviews (for HowWasTheShow.com). He lives in Minneapolis with his wife Mary and their son Michael.
