Kari Monet discovered Jane Austen as a young adult and was bitterly disappointed when she ran out of books in just a few weeks. (All due respect to the godmother of romantic comedy, but she really should have tried harder to produce more than six books.) Kari spent an embarrassing portion of the next twenty years looking for other love stories with the same balance of chemistry, restraint, irony and romance. Finally she came to the unsurprising conclusion that the world needed more sweet romantic comedy writers, and decided to become one. Kari went back to school and found her kids and her reading had taught her all she needed to know, except for grammar--which she managed to graduate without learning anyway. Kari’s thrilled to be part of a new generation of closed-door romance writers, and would literally burn her copy of Pride and Prejudice for a chance to write like Jane Austen or a combination of Sariah Wilson, Diane Setterfield, Emma St. Clair, Alexander McCall Smith and Jan Karon. Kari lives in Southern Utah with her handsome husband and above-average children. When she’s not hanging out with them or hiding with a book, she can usually be found hiking with her dogs, singing in a chamber choir, trying to grow a respectable crop of zucchini, or (let’s be honest) wasting time on Tiktok. She hopes Jane Austen would approve.
