Martin began writing in the third grade and, later in life, wrote and sold 43 Western short stories before turning to Western novels. As noted above, Lee's novel THE DESPERATE RIDERS, is now a motion picture. DESPERATE RIDERS, written by Lee Martin, produced and directed by Michael Feifer, released February 25, 2022 to select theaters as well as online streaming and TV on demand. The DVD was released in April, 2022. Stars include Drew Waters, Trace Adkins, Tom Berenger, Vanessa Evigan, Sam Ashby, Victoria Pratt, Cowboy Troy, Rob Mayes, Brock O’Hurn and Peter Sherayko. Martin’s novel THE SIEGE AT RHYKER’S STATION, with a screenplay by Lee Martin, was filmed in the mountains of Southern California in November of 2020, It was released in December of 2021 as LAST SHOOT OUT, produced and directed by Michael Feifer, and stars Brock Harris, Skylar Witte, Peter Sherayko, Jay Pickett, David Deluise, Michael Welch, Brock Burnett, Caia Coley, Keikilani Grune, Cam Gigandet, and the legendary Bruce Dern.  It received a great review in Variety. Most of Martin's traditional Western novels are also written as screenplays, including HANG TOWN, which has been optioned for a motion picture. Martin’s novels The Grant Conspiracy, The Last Wild Ride, and Fury at Cross Creek, all received rave reviews from True West Magazine and are also written as screenplays, as is Fast Ride to Boot Hill. In Mysterious Ways, Martin’s modern suspense Western, received great critical acclaim from Kirkus Reviews and Midwest Book Reviews. As noted above PEARL HART & THE VIOLENT MEN was awarded BEST OF THE WEST. Martin left the practice of law to write full-time, primarily concentrating on Western screenplays and novels, and often converting one to the other. Martin’s screenplay for SHADOW ON THE MESA, starring Kevin Sorbo, Wes Brown, and Gail O’Grady, was based on Martin’s novel of the same title (Five Star Publishing, 2014). The movie was the second-highest-rated and second-most-watched original movie in Hallmark Movie Channel’s history when it premiered in 2013. The film also won the prestigious Wrangler Award given by the National Cowboy & Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City for Best Original TV Western Movie. Martin is a prolific writer of  novels and screenplays, mostly Westerns.
