Prior to embarking on his writing career, Leonard Davis was an East Texas trial lawyer for 23 years and a federal judge for 13 years. He grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, obtaining degrees in mathematics from UTA in 1970, management science from TCU in 1974, and his law degree from Baylor University in 1976, where he graduated first in his class and was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. During his distinguished judicial career, Judge Davis oversaw one of the largest intellectual property law dockets in the country. He retired from the bench in 2015 but continues to provide strategic counseling for clients involved in worldwide intellectual property law disputes. Judge Davis and his wife, Rhonda, share their time between their homes in East Texas and Colorado. The mountains of Colorado have always beckoned him to many outdoor adventures, including backpacking, summiting 27 of Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks, and countless hours rafting, fishing, and hunting.
