Lisa Fithian is an anti-racist organizer and trainer with the Alliance of Community Trainers, ACT. She been working for nonviolent social change since 1975. Over the years she has worked with many movements including students and youth, environmental justice, peace, labor, global justice, immigration, housing, healthcare, banks, Black, Brown and indigenous liberation/sovereignty, climate change and more She has been training new generations in building collective power, engaging in strategic nonviolent action and grassroots organizing. In recent years Lisa has worked justice with Occupy Wall Street, Ferguson uprising, the Women’s Boat to Gaza and the Standing Rock struggle against the Dakota Access Pipeline. Lisa uses a wide range of strategies and tactics and encourages nonviolent direct action and horizontal organizing because of their power in rapid and radical transformative social change.
