Mark Malamud is a tail-end baby-boomer, writer, poet, inventor, puzzle-maker, designer, futurist, former software developer, and master dogsbody. He is principal and manager of busymonster, LLC, a consultancy company focused on advanced user interface and design. His collection of short stories, The Gymnasium, established the idea of literary taxidermy. His novel, Float the Pooch, which pits David Bowie against Stanley Kubrick against a background of alien invasion, sex, and Yom Kippur, is widely unread. His most recent work, The Timeless Machine, transforms H.G. Wells’ classic novella into a meditation on the limitations and contradictions of living with grief. He holds over 700 patents, and in 2012 he was the 8th most-prolific inventor of patents in the US. His interests include advanced technologies, intellectual property, anti-intellectual property, synthetic observation, and cheese.
