New York Times New-In-Poetry feature, Marlanda Dekine is the author of poetry collections, Thresh & Hold (Hub City Press, 2022) and i am from a punch & a kiss (2017). Her work has been published in three anthologies, two books, and two audiobooks, and is the voice for a collaborative film project, Thresh & Hold, paying homage to her roots in Plantersville, South Carolina. She is a South Carolina Spoken Word Poetry fellow, Tin House scholar, and Palm Beach Poetry Langston Hughes fellow. Her poems have been published by the Poetry Foundation, American Life in Poetry, Oxford American, and elsewhere and set to music by composers, Omar Najmi, Brittany J. Green, and Douglas Boyce. She is the recipient of awards from SC Humanities, the South Carolina Arts Commission, and Hub City Press.
