Martin Brossman has been helping hundreds of small businesses achieve their goals for decades since he left IBM in 1995. He received the IBM Means Service Award in 11 months, which generally takes 11 years. A real Renaissance man, Martin was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” in September 2000 by former North Carolina governor James B. Hunt for his work with cancer patients. Even in high school, Martin was awarded a National Science Foundation Scholarship in 1977, which inspired him to write a book on how to make holograms. Those achievements were followed, later that year, by an official appointment as an adjunct instructor at his high school to teach a class on Holography to his peers. It is worth noting that those accomplishments occurred despite a childhood diagnosis of dyslexia and decades of men's work, including being one of the co-founders with Pat Howlett of a Raleigh NC JUNTO men's group led, in 2006, to Martin receiving the Ron Herring Mission of Service Award from the Mankind Project for his contributions in helping men. Also in 2006, he began teaching - Marketing for Small Businesses - in community colleges and towns throughout North Carolina and he continues to do so. Since 2007, Martin has hosted numerous podcast shows, including a leading social-selling podcast with his late associate, Greg Hyer. Then, in 2009, Martin pioneered the first social media management certificate program with Anora McGaha and wrote the first book on the topic in NC. Those endeavors eventually led to the creation of a popular course at NC State University called -Social Media Management and Marketing Certificate Program - that Martin and his associate Karen Tiede have taught for over a decade. Also, in 2009, he received the Ethel N. Fortner Writer Award, which is the highest literary prize from St. Andrews University. Martin was born and raised in Washington DC and has lived in Raleigh NC since 1983 with his beautiful bride of many years, Barbara Carr Brossman, near his brilliant stepson, Emery Carr. Martin's hobbies include photography, Amateur Radio KI4CFS, hiking, meditation, and competition shooting. If you visit Shelley Lake Park in Raleigh, you may find him riding his bicycle, walking, or taking photographs. If you do, don't hesitate to say, “Hi”!
