MaryLamb was born and raised in West Virginia. She migrated to Virginia for college and now lives in Colorado. She is an experienced parent and psychotherapist who has always loved to write. As a child, she published and distributed a neighborhood newspaper and wrote poetry all before she finished sixth grade. Her mother was a harsh critic of her writing. Her comments frequently caused MaryLamb to be hesitant to expose her efforts and interests. While raising kids, MaryLamb volunteered for the Junior League of Richmond, Virginia, and contributed articles to the Junior League newsletter. She also wrote a column for the local newspaper in the rural county where she lived. Her post-child-raising years involved writing classes and graduate school to become a Jungian-oriented psychotherapist. When the kids left home after college, she moved her life and practice to Colorado. The death of her son, Trip, inspired her memoir, The Trip of My Life. She has workshopped the memoir at Aspen Words workshops, some other writing courses and retreats, and with a local writing group. There is an excerpt from the book on her Blog page.
