Piper Hamln was born in Virginia in 1970 and adopted four months later by a gentleman of Scottish descent and a woman of Canadian ancestry. She wrote short stories on an antique Royal typewriter at her maternal grandmother's cottage in Cape Cod during summer months until she received her own typewriter at the age of twelve. When she was in her early twenties, a friend who was impressed with her talent offered her a choice of an airbrush kit or a typewriter/word processor as a gift. She chose the latter and graduated into novel-length stories. A former Girl Scout, she has worked as an assistant to her dance instructor, was in charge of The Children's Summer Reading Program at a major book store, gave talks on paleontology to groups at a theme park where she was employed, and has taught or assisted with public education classes on various topics such as marine life, proper grease disposal, and making homemade soap. She currently resides in Florida and writes manuscripts on a PC.
