Dr. Roderick Logan’s life and work are deeply rooted in his personal experiences with trauma and resilience. His conviction that human suffering is not a fate to be borne but a mission to overcome is a result of his own journey. As a Senior Faculty member and Director of Organizational Programs at the Arizona Trauma Institute and the Trauma Institute International, he brings a unique perspective to his work. He also provides a consulting and coaching service for parents seeking better ways to connect and raise their children and individuals ready to work through their adverse histories and embrace change as an ally. For over 40 years, Dr. Logan has helped individuals, families, and organizational teams work through trauma and toxic stress, building toward resilience. He is a Diplomate with the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and a Certified Trauma and Resiliency Life Coach. He holds a Master’s in Counseling and a Doctorate in Practical Theology. Dr. Logan trains and consults with organizational leaders and professional care providers throughout the United States and multiple countries. At the core of his being, Roderick means to confront ignorance and apathy. He firmly believes that those who teach and train others need to be taught and trained themselves. This belief fuels his unwavering commitment to continuous learning and growth, ensuring that he always provides the best possible care and support to his clients. Dr. Logan’s career is a testament to his extensive experience. He has worked directly with juvenile justice, foster care, adoption, community service organizations, governmental agencies, the affordable housing industry, trauma services in Third World countries, and teams responding to the refugee crisis. This breadth of experience uniquely qualifies him as an authority on trauma-informed care, principles for building resilience, and pathways for living an optimal life. Outside of his professional endeavors, Roderick is a devoted family man. He and his wife, Melody, have been married for 45 years and have raised three children. They now take joy in their children, their spouses, and eight grandchildren. Roderick's interests also reflect his professional passion. His blog and social media outlets share his insights on trauma-informed parenting and living a resilient life. Among his family and friends, Roderick is known as the man in a rowboat, rowing backward into the future. This personal touch not only humanizes him but also connects him to his audience on a deeper level.
