Hello! Welcome to my literary universe. My name is Rosa Moreno Matellanes, and I dedicate myself to what I’m most passionate about: writing historical novels and soulful thrillers. If you’ve found your way here, it’s likely we share something essential—our love for great stories. I’ve always felt a deep fascination for the tales hidden in the folds of the past or behind an unresolved mystery. I studied Geography and History at the University of Seville—back when both subjects were still taught together—and for a time, I taught history, art, and culture to American students. But I soon discovered that my true calling wasn’t to recount what once was, but to imagine and bring to life—with historical accuracy and emotional depth—real or fictional characters who pulse on every page. Above all, I’m an avid reader. Bookshops and libraries have always felt like magical refuges to me, gateways to other worlds. Many times, while wandering between shelves, I caught myself dreaming that one day, I might find one of my own books there. I dreamed it for a long time... until one day I dared. That bold step led to La oscuridad del sur, my first novel, set in the turbulent Seville of the early Civil War, in the Triana neighborhood where I was born. Since then, new stories have taken shape—thrillers, historical novels, plots that cross times, cities, and conflicts. Each one has taught me something about writing… and about myself. Today, I divide my life between the United States and Spain, between travels, languages, and different ways of seeing the world. I love discovering the soul of every country I visit, learning from its people and culture, savoring its cuisine, exploring its museums, and being awed by its architecture. I’m passionate about art, and whenever I can, I treat myself to the joy of seeing a musical—yet another powerful form of art. I’ve been lucky to experience many in London and New York, and I still carry the thrill of every note, every scene, every round of applause. I keep learning every day, because writing is also a journey—to other times, other places, other lives, other emotional landscapes.
