Tim Philpot, 71, had several titles in his professional career before retiring in 2018. Most people still call him “Judge” after serving 14+ years as a Family Court judge in Lexington, Kentucky. Before that, he served seven years as the full-time president of CBMC International, where he travelled to 67 countries, speaking to business and profession people. Tim was a well-known trial lawyer for more than 26 years, winning multiple million-dollar verdicts, mostly in employment and civil rights cases. He also served two four-year terms in the Kentucky State Senate. His passion now is golf and writing. Tim understands golf because he was a serious amateur golfer for many years. He won several local and state tournaments in Kentucky, but his passion for links golf was born when he made it to the final 32 at the British Amateur at Turnberry in Scotland. He served for twelve years as the chaplain and Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Men’s golf team at the University of Ky. Tim’s first book, Ford’s Wonderful World of Golf, was published in 2013 as a tribute to his father, Ford Philpot, whose passion for golf was only exceeded by his love for preaching the Gospel. His first novel, in 2016, was Judge Z: Irretrievably Broken, a family court story about the death of marriage and the tragedy of divorce. He has written numerous other booklets and devotionals, including The Eternal Mulligan, Life in the Garden, and Slumdog Golfer. Now that he is ‘retired’, Tim hopes that Player’s Progress, published in June 2022, will be the first of more books to come. Tim and Sue Philpot have been married for over fifty years. She is the daughter of Methodist missionaries and grew up in the Belgian Congo. They now live in Loxley, Alabama, but travel each summer to the highlands of Scotland to pursue sweater weather and long walks, both on and off the greatest golf courses in the world.
