Tom is a retired Navy Captain, a combat veteran, an Olmsted Scholar, and has over 40 years of experience managing both government and commercial organizations. He has served as President/CEO and/or Director of International Business Development of four separate public and private companies in the Construction, Computer Software, and Biotechnology fields. As a U.S. Navy SEAL for 25 years, Tom rose through the ranks and became Commanding Officer of two different Navy commands, including SEAL Team Six. He also worked directly for Chief of Naval Operations, where he assisted in the creation of the U.S. Navy’s Personal Excellence Program. This program was developed to link the Navy’s multiple remedial programs into a broader framework of understanding of the importance of a combined holistic approach to helping sailors improve themselves. While on active duty in the U.S. Navy, he also served on the Board of Directors of the George and Carol Olmsted Foundation, placing scholars in universities world-wide. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and received his M.A. in International Relations and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma as an Olmsted Scholar. Tom and his wife Heather are both retired and live in Austin, Texas.
