Travis McCaughey was born and raised in Alaska, a place deeply intertwined with the oil and gas industry. With close to 20 years of experience working both offshore and onshore in the Cook Inlet, he has a unique perspective shaped by his personal background. Furthermore, his entire family is involved in the industry, offering a multi-generational connection to the field. Mr. McCaughey's motivation to write this book stemmed from his observation that one of the greatest challenges for employees in the industry is their ability to communicate effectively and function as part of a team. He noted that those who not only expanded their technical skills but also excelled in encouraging and facilitating strong communication consistently rose through the ranks. His book aims to share these invaluable lessons and insights to help others thrive in this demanding industry. With the experience of working with a super major oil and gas company and currently one of the largest independent oil and gas companies in the United States, Travis brings a wealth of knowledge and diverse experiences to his writing. When he's not catching an extra shift, he can be found spending quality time with his family, writing for his blog, tending to his hobby farm, and pursuing his quest to transform his lawn into perfection.
