After careers in advertising, finance and tending bar in London, William Martin headed to Las Vegas in 1972 to run America's first public porn company. Three years later William struck out on his own, producing, directing, and distributing hundreds of pornographic features, while simultaneously operating adult theaters in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, and Arkansas. Many of William's films were honored at the Adult Film Association, the industry's version of the Academy Awards. In 1982 William purchased a public company, Key Entertainment, which, under his guidance, became an exclusive content distributor for Disney, 20-Century Fox, and Warner Brothers and adult programming from every major porn studio. By the time William left Key in 2008, it had become a behemoth, attaining sales of over two-billion dollars. William Martin has lectured on film distribution at UCLA, USC, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Now retired to write books, William lives with his best friend Elbrus, a chocolate brown Labradoodle, in Costa Rica, where he penned his first book, Memoirs of a Pornographer.
