Deep End by Ali Hazelwood is a standalone college sports romance.

I oscillated between the audiobook and my physical copy. Thérèse Plummer and Ben Holtzmuller are fabulous narrators that really bring the story to life.

Scarlett Vandermeer is a student athlete recovering from an injury that almost ended her career as a competitive diver. She is doing her best to keep her head down, work at getting into med school while also getting her dives back. She has absolutely no time for relationships. Lukas Blomqvist, the golden boy of the swimming world, captain of the swim team and gold medalist, thrives on discipline. Lukas and Scarlett’s friend Pen used to date and after Pen lets a secret slip, Lukas and Scarlett start a temporary arrangement. The temporary part of their arrangement becomes impossible to maintain as their feelings for one another grow.

Deep End has become my favorite book by Ali Hazelwood. I loved it so much! Scarlett was quirky, awkward, smart, and endearing. Lukas was blunt, thoughtful, and absolutely obsessed with Scarlett. The story was fast and addicting. I read the entire thing in an afternoon. I was rooting for the characters so hard! The secondary characters were interesting and added a lot to the story. It was also fun getting cameos from characters in Hazelwood’s Love Hypothesis.

Not in My Book by Katie Holt is a sparkling debut!
Rosie Maxwell is a romantic Peruvian-American from Tennessee now living and working in New York City. Rosie is a romance writer currently in a graduate program and she’s got the best friends. Rosie and her friends attend a writing workshop for school that’s taught by her favorite professor, the only problem is her nemesis is also enrolled in this class. Aiden Huntington is Rosie’s ex-crush and current thorn in her side. The pair can’t help but throw barbs at each other in class. Aiden thinks his literary fiction is superior to Rosie’s romance and Rosie makes it clear that she finds his lit-fic boring and gratuitously sad. Their distain for one another becomes quite the distraction in class and the professor threatens to remove them both unless they work together on the final project, a novel. Now forced to write together, Aiden and Rosie are encouraged to go on fake dates in order to write a believable story. As they spend more time together, this duo can’t help but writing pieces of themselves into their story and maybe they have been wrong about each other all along.

I loved this book and never wanted it to end. I enjoyed the witty banter, the fun and supportive friend group, and the depth of the main characters. Rosie and Aiden were complex characters and interesting to read. I was very invested in each characters life. I’m incredibly impressed by this debut novel and can’t wait to read what Holt puts out next!

I was given an advanced listeners copy by NetGalley and thoroughly enjoyed Frankie Corzo’s narration. I would definitely recommend this audiobook to all my audio loving friends!

Lost and Lassoed is the third book in the Rebel Blue Ranch series by author Lyla Sage and is now officially my favorite of the series. I listened to the audiobook and also bought a physical copy. Jason Clarke and Samantha Brentmoor deliver a beautiful audio performance!

Teddy (Theodora) and Gus (August) can’t stand each other, which is really inconvenient since Teddy is Emmy’s best friend and Emmy is Gus’s sister and the two gal pals are practically always together. Teddy takes care of her dad and is feeling kind of lost while the relationships in her life are changing and so is her career path. Gus is a single dad and rancher whose coparenting schedule has drastically shifted while his daughter’s mother is working out of town for the summer. He is poised to take over his father’s ranch and works around the clock. He needs help with childcare, Teddy needs a job and also happens to love spending time with Riley, Gus’s daughter. The volatile pair agree to work together and sparks fly! A pleasant surprise in this story is the relationship Teddy has with her dad Hank. It’s so sweet and will definitely tug on your heartstrings. This story has me in my feels in the best way. I know I’ll reread this again and again.

Double Apex is book one in the Frontrunners series by Josie Juniper.

Mackenzie Cartwright and Jonathan Lake really bring these characters to life. I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. I’ll definitely listen to these narrators in the future.

Phaedra Morgan is an excellent race engineer working for her father’s Formula 1 team. She’s a math wizard and excels in this male dominated field. Phaedra loathes her team’s driver, Cosmin Ardelean, because he’s constantly flirting and not taking her seriously. Despite his reputation, Cosmin is a phenomenal driver and is just what his new team needs to pull themselves up from the midfield. He’s not the flirt the world believes him to be, he’s close with his sister and co-founded a children’s home for orphans. His rocky relationship with Phaedra is causing issues within the team and the pair are forced into spending time together under the guise of team bonding. They do in fact find some common ground and eventually strike up an arrangement of sorts. Can their relationship stay a secret and is that what they really want?

As an avid F1 fan myself, I really enjoyed this fast paced sports romance. I found this story to be multilayered and full of heart, heat, grief, complicated family dynamics, and believable F1 content. My only issue was the lack of communication that lead to the majority of the couples problems.

Beating Heart by Laura Pavlov is the 4th book in the Magnolia Falls series. This story is a wonderful small town, single dad romance that’s full of heart!! So far, I think this is my favorite book of this series.
Emerson and Nash’s chemistry is off the charts! When the new pediatrician moves in next door, Nash and Emerson might have just found their missing piece. This was such an enjoyable and fast paced audiobook! I highly recommend this series, particularly the audiobooks. Every book has fabulous narration and this one is no exception, Savannah Peachwood and Teddy Hamilton give perfect performances.

Alive and Wells by Bailey Hannah is the first book in the Wells Ranch series. You know I love a good cowboy, I mean rancher romance. 😉

Cecily is on the run from her abusive husband and finds refuge at Wells Ranch where she has a friend working. Austin Wells is none too thrilled to have a city girl working for him, he doesn’t know the situation surrounding Cecily’s move and he doesn’t want to care. Austin is convinced she’s a distraction that none of his employees need, yet he ends up being the only one distracted. Austin has some deep wounds and Cecily brings them up to the surface but she also seems to be healing them.
I really enjoyed this debut novel by Bailey Hannah, I’ll definitely be reading the next in the series. I thought her characters were interesting, strong, and funny. The spice was excellent and I loved the epilogue!

Callie Dalton and Jason Clarke are excellent narrators!!

Not in Love by Ali Hazelwood is probably not what you’re expecting from the author. While the story still has women in STEM and a tall hero, Not in Love is much heavier and hornier than her previous works. Check trigger warnings before reading as this is a very angsty read.
Dr. Rue Siebert works as a biotech engineer at Kline, a company run by her close friend and mentor. Rue plans to share an evening with a stranger named Eli she met through an app however those plans change. The next morning she discovers that Eli is actually Eli Killgore and he and his business partners are trying to take over Kline. Eli and Rue both feel an insane connection to one another and things get complicated. This story is definitely smut forward but also tells of growth, self discovery, friendship, and romance.

Allison Mullally is a 30 year old woman dating her now deceased ex-boyfriend. Okay, okay, what actually happened is, 6 weeks ago her outgrowing, gregarious, and adventurous boyfriend named Sam broke up with her because he felt like she was just pretending to be happy. He tragically passes away in a car accident and Allison is attending his funeral when she learns he never told his parents they broke up. Sam’s sister asks her to go along with the charade as it’s giving her mother comfort thinking Sam had a stable relationship before he passed, something his family desperately wanted for him. Allison agrees because how bad can one afternoon be, everything is fine until she finds herself roped into to cleaning out Sam’s house with this best friend Adam. The real kicker here is that Adam seems to despise her. They never interacted while Sam was alive because of their differing schedules and now the pair are stuck working together every weekend until Sam’s house is market ready. Not only is Allison dealing with this zany situation she also is grappling with the side effects of learning she is a carrier of the BRACA1 mutation.
The Ellie Palmer’s writing absolutely blew me away! The topics of grief and friendship read as real and raw and so refreshing for a romcom! I’ll definitely be reading whatever Palmer puts out next!

Kyla Garcia brings so much heart and life to these characters! Her narration is stunning in this beautiful audiobook.

The Ex Vows by Jessica Joyce is a messy and compelling story of two best friends that dated, broke up, and now 5 years later are forced to spend time together for their other best friend’s wedding.
Eli Mora and Georgia Woodward are estranged exs that were once best friends brought together by a mutual friend named Adam. Adam is getting married to the love of his life and can’t imagine doing it without both his besties by his side. Through a series of unfortunate events the wedding is going to be a disaster without hands-on help from Georgia and Eli. Flashbacks and memories help us learn what happened five years ago that broke Eli and Georgia apart. Georgia is spending more energy than she’d like not falling back into love with Eli while Eli appears to be going out of his way to spend time with her.
The Ex Vows is full of heart, emotional growth, laughter, chemistry, and second chances. I LOVED this book and am already planning my first reread!

-friends to lovers

-positive therapy rep
-forced proximity
