Historia
After Englishman John Blackthorne is lost at sea, he awakens in a place few Europeans know of and even fewer have seen—Nippon. Thrust into the closed society that is seventeenth-century Japan, a land where the line between life and death is razor-thin, Blackthorne must negotiate not only a foreign people, with unknown customs and language, but also his own definitions of morality, truth, and freedom. As internal political strife and a clash of cultures lead to seemingly inevitable conflict, Blackthorne’s loyalty and strength of character are tested by both passion and loss.

What stands out the most is the intricacy and emotion of the tale
Revisado: 01-20-24
This book is a “must read.” I have read Shogun perhaps 7 times over the years. I saw the most enjoyable television mini series first, then I bought the novel. Of course the novel provided the nuance that a tv performance could not. But that’s OK. Interestingly, to me, the characters in the novel have the faces and features of the tv characters. I prefer the look over the descriptions in the book. Sad that the author died. I had always looked forward to his next epic. I have read most, if not all of them.

Obviously well researched
Revisado: 11-15-23
The narration comes across as from someone who takes great pride in his work. The material fills in portions of history that inquisitive minds are continuously looking to piece together. Whether as an Audible listen or a book read, this book is well worth the time and money invested.

Should be required reading for HS Civics
Revisado: 08-20-23
Although I don’t completely agree with the authors political beliefs, he presents a very balanced critique of our political system and it’s flaws. This is the type of discussion that should be had throughout the country, for the preservation of our democracy.

They Want to Kill Americans is the first detailed look into the heart of the active Trump-led insurgency, setting the stage for a second nation-wide rebellion on American soil. This is a chilling and deeply researched early warning to the nation from a counterterrorism intelligence professional: America is primed for a possible explosive wave of terrorist attacks and armed confrontations that aim to bring about a Donald Trump led dictatorship.

What truth sounds like
Revisado: 05-29-23
This book is an eye opener for those who subscribe to supporting the seditious movement in this country, thinking that it is either righteous or benign. It is also for those who bury their heads in the sand hoping that there is no seditious conspiracy in this country. Nance is an extremely intelligent man, who gets it right.

Admiral Stavridis proves he was the right guy as NATO’s Allied Supreme Commander
Revisado: 06-15-22
As a 30-year active duty sailor and officer, I completely relate to the Admiral’s leadership. I served under both great and poor leaders. I learned from both, and was able to impart the wisdom to my subordinates and peers. The result was successful careers for them and for myself. I have read the book twice, and will be reading it again. I wish the Admiral fair winds and following seas.

Quick paced narrative. Concise and to the point. Well done. Vindman’s story is must read for those who wish to know the disgraced former president’s criminality and threat to our democracy.
