Historia
The lone survivor trembled as she pleaded with investigators.... For over 40 years, the events of what happened at Gitchie Manitou the night of November 17, 1973, remained a mystery to all but a few. Then the lone survivor broke her silence. Five teenage friends had driven to the park to spend a few hours around a campfire. By morning, four had been murdered, and only she was still alive. Gitchie Girl Uncovered is a chilling account of the strange twists and bizarre details discovered by an elite team of investigators under intense pressure to catch the killers.

Good Read
Revisado: 10-11-22
Overall a good read. Not as gory as one might have thought, but I think the previous original book covered more. This focused more on the girl and how she experienced the trauma. I liked it. it moved along smoothly and easily. Good narration.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Boring

I kept waiting for a climax, something good to happen, listening hopefully for a satisfying ending. Nope. It was overall a sad, hopeless story. Not worth the read.

In 1955, an American farming couple saw a film about the thousands of Korean children orphaned by the Korean War. Through a special act of Congress, they were authorized to adopt eight of these children - which marked the advent of international adoption. Since that time, there have been over 170,000 children adopted out of Korea to more than 30 countries. Korean adoptee Glenn Morey and his wife, Julie Morey, spent six years interviewing 100 Korean adoptees from around the world. Very good story. Well told, well narrated. Wish there was more history about Korea. Especially during war and post war. But, it's a story that makes you think, broadens your mind, and appreciate all people of diversity.

Historia
In July 1881, Lt. A. W. Greely and his crew of 24 scientists and explorers were bound for the last region unmarked on global maps. Their goal: Farthest North. What would follow was one of the most extraordinary and terrible voyages ever made. Greely and his men confronted every possible challenge - vicious wolves, sub-zero temperatures, and months of total darkness - as they set about exploring one of the most remote, unrelenting environments on the planet. In May 1882, they broke the 300-year-old record, and returned to camp to eagerly await the resupply ship. Only nothing came.

Narrator was awesome. Albeit long, I loved this book. Fascinating, and inspiring story. Truly is "Triumph and Tragedy". And told on mostly layman's terms. I look forward to perusing the PDF file to see more insights, pics, etc. A great deal was accomplished on this expedition by courageous and resilient men. I especially liked the last chapter. Ties then and now together, including the effects on the human condition in. in dire circumstances.

On May 20, 2013, the worst tornado on record landed a direct hit on the small town of Moore, destroying two schools while the children cowered inside.

Great story. Great narration. I felt it could have been condensed a bit. Was about 8th chapter before you get to actual storm. Most of early chapters were about characters, Geographic description, town and storm hx. Like most books, most of it was necessary to pull it all together. I have a short attention span. Just had to fast forward a few times to get to the good stuff. Fascinating, insightful.

Historia
To his neighbors, Wayne Nance, a furniture mover from Missoula, Montana, appeared to be an affable, considerate, and trustworthy guy. No one knew that Nance was the "Missoula Mauler," a psychopath responsible for a series of sadistic sex slayings that rocked the idyllic town between 1974 and 1986. Nance's only requirement for murder was accessibility - a preacher's wife, a teenage runaway, a female acquaintance, a married couple. Putting on a friendly façade, he could easily gain his victims' trust. Then, one September night, thirty-year-old Nance pushed his luck.

Very well narrated story. Good audio for crime lovers. Suspenseful! Only thing I didn't like is that he was he got into back history of some the characters. interesting tho it was, really not needed. Otherwise I really liked it.

I thought of my son when reading this. His struggles, my own, the ripple effects we, and others have on society. Effects that can be so inspiring, so damaging, and so permanent. This book was extremely well narrated. Very easy to follow. The story itself is great food for thought, especially in these COVID times. I've always felt that if I've helped or positively affected a change to one person in my line of work, then I've done my job. I believe I have, hopefully more than once. I believe this book will also do the same.

First half was slow for me and hard to follow. Got more interesting in 2nd half. Story was good. Not much to tell other than many wasted nterviews with killer and only tidbits of info. The result of the case leaves more questions than answers. This is thru no fault of author; just was a complicated story to put to paper.

This was very well written and we'll narrated. if
you like true crime you'll appreciate the story, as well as insight to the legal and controversial justice system we have. Kind of reminds me of Ann Rule true crime stories. A lot of explanation at times, but necessary to be told.
