Historia
Ever since he was a kid, kicking broken soccer balls on the run-down streets of East London, Gary Stevenson dreamed of something bigger. As luck would have it, he was good at numbers. At the London School of Economics, wearing tracksuits and sneakers, Stevenson shocked his posh classmates by winning a competition called “The Trading Game.” The prize? A golden ticket to a new life, as the youngest trader at Citibank.

Raw, unfiltered, beautifully narrated
Revisado: 12-11-24
First off, the narration alone on this book was worth the listen. I wish there was an option to get Gary Stevenson's narration for every book. His cockney delivery is so different from the experience of the majority of audiobooks.
While his story arc itself is slightly underwhelming (I thought he would've spent more time on the floor and deliver more insights), his story is what it is (even despite criticism of exaggeration). What I appreciated about his story was how raw and unfiltered it was. This was pure, gritty. Nothing trite, no sugar coating, no platitudes.
One of the few books, where each time I put onto listen--no matter where I was--I became fully immersed in his story and his way of thinking.

Historia
Every new project (or job, or hobby, or company) starts out exciting and fun. Then it gets harder and less fun, until it hits a low point: really hard, and not much fun at all. And then you find yourself asking if the goal is even worth the hassle. Maybe you're in a Dip: a temporary setback that you will overcome if you keep pushing. But maybe it's really a Cul-de-Sac, which will never get better, no matter how hard you try.

Seth Godin should take his own advice and quit!
Revisado: 06-10-18
Given how little effort went into writing this book, this book doesn't deserve an overly thought-out review. Suffice to say, Seth Godin should take his own advice and quit writing (and narrating) because he will never be the best at it.
Godin has one key point--one which he clearly doesn't follow himself--and then spends an hour and a half regurgitating the same point over, and over, and over gain.
If he is unwilling to take his own advice, why should you?
Don't bother with this book.

Historia
Secretly, if not overtly, almost everyone in America desires to become rich: to make it big, to enjoy the fruits of the most successful life imaginable. But unfortunately, most of us don't have a clue as to how to reach these all too elusive goals. Quite simply, there's really no road map for getting there, no proven plan and almost certainly little if any access to those who have become "the richest man in town".

Should be called "The Book of Platitudes"
Revisado: 08-05-16
What disappointed you about The Richest Man in Town?
There were no insights here. This was a book that did nothing more than regurgitated various cliches and platitudes. Superficially written with very little depth.
What was most disappointing about Randall Jones’s story?
This book is not appropriate for adults. Better suited for kids 12-16 years old. Feels like it was written by an algorithm crawling Inc articles.
What does Randall Jones bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Randall Jones is a solid reader. At least an attempt to bring some life to otherwise uninspired content.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
As mentioned, it did nothing more than regurgitate what's obvious to any adult. It's only redeeming quality is that it would be appropriate for younger audiences in the 12-16 year range.
Any additional comments?
Randall Jones takes pleasure in hearing himself talk -- especially when reciting large numbers. He practically gushes each time he talks about how much one of his RMIT's is worth or how much they sold their company for. From the first chapter it was obvious that the writing is superficial and that this book would do nothing more than state the obvious. Things like "ambition addiction" and "no pain no gain" are stated as if they were great insights. This is not a well written book. If you're looking for similar content, but with a much better narrative, try "Business Brilliant"

Good Content / Awful Narration
Revisado: 01-01-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would recommend the book to a friend, not the audiobook.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Disciplined Entrepreneurship?
Well thought out, methodical steps to entrepreneurship providing you already have a specific idea, passion, skill or technology.
What didn’t you like about Erik Synnestvedt’s performance?
The narrator sounded like he was holding in a sneeze or holding back tears while narrating. The narrator ruined the content. It was so poorly read that it became very easy to tune out. A shame, because I generally prefer the audio format.
Could you see Disciplined Entrepreneurship being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
No.
Any additional comments?
Read the book instead, do NOT get the audio version. The narration needs to be redone with a better narrator.
