Acerca de esta escucha
In the wake of her husband Curtis' life-threatening injuries and protracted hospital stay, Lisa Lindell attempts to stich her family's life back together. She tries to salvage something of the lessons she's learned navigating the broken American healthcare system and worker rights environment to further patient's right and medical accountability, with some success. She finishes her first book, is featured in a documentary on the subject, and starts speaking across the country. But change proves hard to affect. Moreover, Curtis has suffered more than simple physical injuries, and his cognitive impairment, inability to work consistently, and the emotional trauma of his experiences have left them fragmented as a couple. Several years after his release from the hospital, he and Lisa decide to call it quits. With the kids on their own, suddenly single, without the all-consuming focus on issues that demanded her attention for a decade, Lisa finds herself at loose ends. She throws herself into the world of on-line dating, her new job, and into mastering the art of poker. But dating in the 21st Century proves to be a strange, unsatisfying experience, and that, combined with a series of jobs what weren't all they promised, leads Lisa to leave Texas for the promise of Las Vegas. One disappointment after another finds Lisa at the bottom of her personal journey, eking out an existence in a city where she has no friends and ever-dwindling resources. Ultimately, she discovers her true passion and risks everything to make her dreams come true...

Do not really like AI books
Loved the first book but would have been better if you narrated the book. Did not like narration of this book.

Too much information
First of all I did not care for the virtual narration. Also I really did not want to listen to the descriptions of Ms. Lindell’s sex life.

Internet Dating Book?
After reading 108 Days, I was really interested in learning how the author coped at home and, as per the synopsis, “lost everything and found it all”.
The beginning of the book tracked with this expectation but soon morphed into the internet dating book she mentions she wanted to write.
There’s too much talk about how horny she is and there’s chapter after chapter on her endless pursuit of sex. I thought I’d stick it out for a few chapters to see if the narrative moved on from this topic but I finally decided I’ve had enough.
I understand the loss of emotional connection and it makes sense that she would try new things after losing so much after a long struggle. But she should have kept the internet dating woes for another book in my view. It completely detracts from the story she’s trying to tell.
It’s a shame, I won’t know how the story ends.
As with the first book, the AI voice is unpleasant.
