ER Head Nurse Laurel Benson and Police Detective Cade Resnick have a sure cure for boredom!
On the last Game Day of Aggie football, a patient comes into the ER wearing a Captain Courageous costume. Laurel recognizes the patient as Dr. Arnold Fisk, CEO of Texas General Hospital’s most vocal competitor. He’s also married to Cade’s superior, the College Station Assistant Chief of Police.
His first visit of the day is of a ‘personal’ nature; the second leaves him fighting for his life. When the doctor dies, Cade has a murder on his hands and Laurel must relay the doctor’s bombshell ramblings before undergoing surgery.
Her admission means their elusive first date is even less likely to happen. Never mind that the cowboy detective makes her heart jingle as surely as his spurs; their careers seem determined to pull them apart, one patient and one murder at a time.
There’s never a dull moment in the lively college town of College Station, Texas. Book 2 is no exception, especially with a bonus appearance by Granny Bert from The Sisters, Texas Mystery Series.
