Resumen del Editor
Meg Murry can't help but be worried when her six-year-old brother, Charles Wallace, announces there are dragons in the vegetable garden. He's so bright, and so different from other kids, he's getting bullied at school, and he is also strangely, seriously ill.
But Charles Wallace is right about the dragons - actually a friendly entity who has come to help Charles Wallace fight his sickness, and to take Meg and her friend Calvin O'Keefe on a terrifying, wonderful journey into galactic space - where they must battle the force of evil to save Charles Wallace, and themselves.

Oh, it's not the very cute kitten that appears out of nowhere and demands to go home with her. It's not the sudden arrival of her cousin Zee, who believes he's the cause of a mysterious sickness that has struck his friends back in England. It's not her creepy English teacher Mr. Metos, who takes his mythology lessons just a little too seriously. And it's not the white-faced, yellow-eyed men in tuxedoes, who follow Charlotte everywhere. What's so extraordinary is not any one of these things.... It's all of them.

Historia
Told from four-year-old Laura's point of view, this story begins in 1871 in a little log cabin on the edge of the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Laura lives in the little house with her pa, her ma, her sisters Mary and Carrie, and their trusty dog, Jack. Pioneer life is sometimes hard for the family, since they must grow or catch all their own food as they get ready for the cold winter. But it is also exciting as Laura and her family celebrate Christmas with homemade toys and treats, do the spring planting, bring in the harvest, and make their first trip into town.

Austen wrote, 'I am going to take a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like' and thus introduces the handsome, clever, rich - and flawed, Emma Woodhouse. Emma is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage; nothing however delights her more than matchmaking her fellow residents of Highbury. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr. Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegee Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.

Fun children’s book, even for adults
A well narrated, different and intriguing story line. I hadn’t realized that it was a written for children when I purchased. I enjoyed it nevertheless.

Flawless Performance
This is a fully engaging performance of an exceptional book. Unlike when I first read it 55 years ago, my mind didn’t drift at all. I think that is because the reading was so very expressive.

Good story but too much science
It had great potential, but it had a lot of science that made the book hard to understand. The science is what made the first book good, this time it just took it to far. But over all it wasn't too bad.

I was disappointed.
after reading a wrinkle in time, again as an adult, I thought the story was pretty cool, and was really looking forward to a sequel. but science fiction is a tricky genre, because a lot of authors, like this one, take it from the imaginative, to the absurd. I feel like that's exactly what this author did, and in so doing, really ruined the whole story. I can't remember what the word was, kive??? come on, I think that's taking it a little far. I don't know if I'm going to risk spending another credit to find out if the third book in the series is any good.

A wonderful adventure
Although it might seem like a story for children, the book goes deeper into a fantasy land suited for adults as well. I very much enjoyed the plot and also the narrator.

Fantasy, Sci-fi, and Spirituality Tied In A Bow
If you could sum up A Wind in the Door in three words, what would they be?
Thoughtful, Revealing, Loving
Who was your favorite character and why?
Meg is the heroine of the novel and my favorite character. Meg has the opportunities/frustrations/successes of experiencing new knowledge firsthand while giving the reader a glance into what it might feel like to have the ability to speak across the heavens or synapses (size doesn't matter, you see).
Which scene was your favorite?
I thoroughly enjoy the scene when Meg connects (or "kives") with other individuals without the need for a vision to accompany the action. She perceives the essence of the individual's spirit and learns that love really isn't an emotion. I'm not going to spoil the book, so you'll have to listen to find out Madeline L'Engle's take on "love".
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I usually find myself in tears near the end of the book as all of the newfound skills in communication and understanding heal little brother, Charles Wallace.
Any additional comments?
Highly recommended. It's for all ages, especially if you find yourself seeking some spiritual inspiration that is beyond religion.
