Acerca de esta escucha
The monkey mind chatters all day.
"I look terrible in these pants-why can't I lose some weight?"
"I'm stuck in traffic again. Why didn't I leave earlier?"
"If I wasn't working all the time, I could have saved my marriage."
This results in stress, shame, and ultimately, "Bartender, can I get a drink?"
Free yourself from the negative mind-set that overwhelms you. Addicted to the Monkey Mind offers a toolbox of practical skills to shift self-sabotaging, programmed ways of thinking and learn actionable steps.
This audiobook will help you to:
- Overcome addiction
- Resolve relationship issues
- Replace burnout with passion
- Sustain an abiding joy
J.F. Benoist - a visionary thought leader in the fields of addiction treatment and personal development - uses the journeys of two relatable characters to teach you how to develop a powerful new mind-set and finally break the cycle of debilitating habits.
Praise for the book:
"Addicted to the Monkey Mind is one of the most concrete, practical self-help books I have ever read. A must-read!" (Jennifer Read Hawthorne, coauthor of number one The New York Times best sellers Chicken Soup for the Woman's Soul and Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul)
"JF Benoist has given us a book of insight and clarity. Both psychotherapists and their clients will greatly benefit. I highly recommend this book." (Teni Garrett-Johnson, PhD, licensed clinical psychologist)

Historia
Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Life changing
I have not stopped thinking about this book. Totally had changed the way I think about my relationships. I’m making everyone I know read it.
I did not mind the narrator at all. Not sure why others disliked her? I thought it was well-read.

Different Narrator?
Good info contained within. Would be a better audible if had different gender voices and different voices within genders. In the book there are differences audible would have been more powerful if same.

Bad choice for narrator
The beginning of the book was great for me and i couldn’t wait to find tips on how to apply the observing mind therapy in my life. However, It’s examples of other people’s life that I dont associate my life to. And the worst about this audio book is narrators voice. I find it irritable to listen to especially when she’s imitating voices. Yikes

Okay but Hard to Listen to
The way she imitates characters in her stories will make you want to claw your ears off. Overall it's a decent book. Makes it's point.

Got a bit long—-good advice
I’ll admit this for difficult to finish. There were some stories that just kept going on and on and I didn’t see a point in them. Good advice but just. Got. So. Boring.

I didn’t realize how much this would resígnate with me.
I have been able to really know and get to know myself and why I react the way I do to people and situations.
